Thanks for the wise words guys. I know this is something that's hard to give advice on, but I just couldn't figure out what I wanted to do.
One thing is for sure - Imo the Evo will never look as good as a FTO with even a little bit of basic body work.
I suppose it's true that I can never have the fastest car, so why try? And it's true that if I buy an EVO i'll crave for more power. Better off sticking to a car I like and am really passionate abt and making into something truly unique, rather than jump on the badwagon of the "speed-craze".
I actually considered throwing a turbo in, changed by mind after I was told of how hard it is to find somebody that'll do it properly and how much pain people went through to turbo their fto, and still have problems. So decided this probably wasn't the smartest thing to do, although I wish I could..
I really like the idea of being able to call it MY car, with everything done to my taste. Leaning more towards keep the car now, been thinking about this long and hard for the past 2 days. Thanks, given me a broader viewpoint to work with.

Im afraid that doesnt always work. I did that with a 76 galant in the early ninetees (spent 30K on it and got it featured in Fast Fours at the time and sold it for 7.5K). Said id never do that again, but im back now. I have the house, family car AND my FTO. Baby seat fits in the back - alls good. Just about to go the more power option as well though. Will be picking myself up a VR4 Legnum wagon soon. Can almost feel the twin turbo now. And maybe when im sick of that, ill drop the drivetrain out of it and put it in my FTOFor now.... Im doing this while i can... Sublime, you're the same age as me... I figure do this now.. get it out of your system...

This is what happened to me...
Bought a twin turbo Supra just before xmas just because I wanted everything that the FTO lacked... and I planned to sale the FTO as soon as I can
It's May now and the FTO is still there. WHY? I have no idea but every now and then I'd drive it around town and zip through traffic and come back home with a smile on my face. There is no explanation for this and I am pretty sure you are going throug the same thing. Sometimes I even argue "passionately" on the Supraforums defending the FTO for what an underestimated car it is and come up all puzzled. Yes I do love my Supra more but when someone is giving my FTO a bit of bad mouthing, I tend to become all defensive about it.
Best thing to do? Save up for a Evo 8 without selling the FTO
... considering you can get one for less than 30k now... put that extra mile worth of effort and save 10k more!

v. nice mate
How are you liking the Supra??
Personally I wouldn't mind picking up a series 7 Rx-7, or a GSL-SE & doing a 13BT or 20B conversion .. but I can't bring myself to part with that much money..
would be hella fun!!! .. but theres always other more important things to spend it on
I sometimes wonder what I'm missing out on by not getting a more powerful car.. but as soon as I jump in the pilots seat of the FTO & hit that MIVEC I seem to forget all about it
It might not be the quickest thing out, but theres just something about them that does it for me..

Anyhow, I think I've decided to keep my FTO for now and jsut do bits and pieces to it here and there, I;m not going to rush into anything as I don't wanna regret anything later on.
Oh and Evo 7s are the ones you may be thinking of, a couple of average quality ones for just under 30, but I wouldn't really touch those. Evo 8s are around $38 for a good one, and I wasn't going to buy anything thats cheaper than that, budgeted myself to spending no more than $40k and no less than 36 on an evo, since I wanted quality.
You're right though, now that I think about it, why do I still have my FTO? Cos I can't bring myself to sell it, probably because I've wanted it since I was 13/14, I even made my email - gpx_fto@hotmail.com when I was 14 because I knew I'd get a FTO some day. Guess I'm just not ready to let it go, because I always dreamt of owning one and doing a shitload to make it really stand out and live it's life to it's potential, and if I havn't achieved what I initially planned then I suppose there will always be a hollow feeling somewhere.
So f*ck it, I'm gonna keep it, do what I want to it, then if I get bored I can say I have no regrets selling it as I've done everything I wanted to do to it.
Thanks for the help guys

But it doesnt look as good and never will until they make it look like a sports car instead of a medium size family car with a slightly different kit.
