LICENCE IN AUS

Ok guys one more question on moving to OZ, I hope

Drivers licence...... now I know i'm going to have to sit some sort of test but I'm wondering on what stages I have to go through and I'm too lazy to search for info

I have held my full NZ licence for 13 years now and will have to get an OZ one
No doubt will have to do a theory test but after that would I still have to sit a practical test?
Or even worse go through the P plate system you have?

I'm not sure and i'm hopeing that you have similiar system as us and once i have passed theory and or practical tests I can go directly to full again?

Any help from those who might know will be much appreciated

Mate you will go straight onto your full license, you wont have to do the p plater thing. However you will need to sit a eye test and a written test to see that you know the road rules. There are some significant differences so its best to learn them.

In saying that i went to a small little town, walked into the police office they gave me a eye test and handed me my license no test hahaha.

so maybe I should go to some hick town in country for it

I think can use my international one for a year

No worries mate

When i came over about 8 yrs ago you could drive on your NZ license for 6 months before getting it swapped over. Im not sure if thats still the case but i havent heard anything about them changing it

Yeah I been told something about driving for 3 months on NZ licence but used to be six thats no prob as can for longer on international anyway

if you've had your NZ license for 13 years you get your full with just an eye exam... in NSW anyway

i had an international student friend with a chinese license he had for 4 years got the license in 5minutes

When was that cause my brother you had his license for like 10yrs in NZ. He had to do the written exam. He was in sydney
