Since I bought my car I have been meaning to sort out my dual twin tip muffler setup, as they were sticking out the back a little bit too much, and one side more than the other, and it was sagging a little too.
Anyway one friend of mine had told me about his good experience with the level of service from Tuffy mufflers at Alexandria, so I decided I'll give them a try, but ended up going to the one in Ryde since it's closer to me.
The attendant was friendly and gave a free inspection upon arrival, putting it up on the hoist. I was considering putting back my original front pipe as well, since I kinda miss my old exhaust sound and thought I dont need the power since it's up to now a 100% road car (not that the sound from the new one is that bad), he immediately pointed out before I even said it, that my rear tips are sticking out too much and uneven and one side is a little crooked, which I didnt even notice. He advised me that it is actually illegal to have the muffler tip protruding from the veihical boundary by that much, and could be hazardous to those who might rub their bare leg against it while it is hot. But the point is it looked unsymmetrical and I just wanted the damn thing to look pretty.
I decided against changing the front pipe back for now, but asked for him to quote me on the work to sort out my uneven tips. he told me that the work would take about 1.5 hours and including the re-piping from the actual muffler main body (4 all up) and welding of the 4 tips he quoted $140 (or $35 per pipe/tip) btw, their rate is $60/hour which is very reasonable.
Anyway during the wait, I went to check out the progress from time to time, and the guy actually came upto me and told me about the current progress each time (of course at this time his colleague was working on it, i wouldnt expect him to drop what he was doing to do so). They did make a mistake doing 2 of the pipes and had to re-do them. In the end they took about 3 hours for the entire job (part of the time they had 2 guys on the job), but I didnt mind as long as they do a good job. Well I am very happy with their work, and it was obvious to me that they took care to do a precise a job as they can. Maybe they never worked on a FTO before and got a little excited

He stuck to the $140 quoted price, and apologised that they took longer than quoted.
Now wouldn't it be good if all places were customer focused as these blokes, I actually left with a smile on my face

I thoroughly recommend them for any muffler work, and would go back to them without hesitation, unlike some other workshops Ive mentioned in the past.
