No special tools were needed, probably only the 14mm rachet spanner, the manifold isn't that hard to get of, once you got the bolts off it basically falls off.

Probably the hardest thing was getting the old front manifold out of the engine bay and getting the RPW front headers in the engine bay, The easiest way is to take out the thermo fan out(the one on the drivers side), you take that out through the top, the aircon hose gets in the way but just push it out of the way.
To get the stock manifolds out and RPW headers in you go under the car, once again that aircon hose gets in the way, you sota twist the headers in while pushing the hose out of the way, Its hard but you just got to try different angles but you will get it in, its probably easier if you take out the oil filter but I didn't do that, working on the rear is a lot easier, more space to work in.

maytech designed your extractors? how much?

isnt 3inch exhaust overkill?

sounds like crispy bacon, sounds yummy, I still run the stock exhaust till I can afford a new exhaust, apprentice machanic pay isn't that great, one thing everyone should try is redline the FTO with just the extractors and down pipe with no exhaust on the car, me and a mate with his magna were trying to see if we could get a better quarter mile time with no exhaust with a G-tech.

It didn't really give us a better time, but the sound just left us with a big grin on our face for the rest of the day.

I got the extractors from RPW group buy.

Maytech did some in-house mods (which they are templating for future customers).

Is 3" overkill?? Well i do not think so. I have no mid reverb, the Mivec zone is where the crispyness comes in....she sounds great every time i give her a squirt and there is definately more willingness to rev and torque gains too...(no Dyno to prove)

Also got a custom rear muffler section. Will try and get some pics next time it is on the hoist

Ok cool - had only been told it was too big for N/A car but if its working for then thats also good.

Will be great to find out more about Maytechs extractors - gives another option to RPW

here's my fittment guide:

1. take it to the mechanic
2. tell them to put it on when the engine is getting done.

easy

disconnect the flexpipe, then take off each header. you just look for the mounting bolts with your fingers. if it wont come off, there's still a bolt or 2 holding it on. installation of extractors is the opposite of removal, except with new gaskets.

its just nuts and bolts, there's no fine tolerances or torque settings or any of that crap. simple ;)

Ever tried 'just taking off the back header?' .... its an ass. Much easier done with intake manifold off unless you have Nicole Richie hands. The stocks nuts also tend to rust up pretty hard after 12 years, so be generous with the WD40 too.

3 P's- patience perserverance & persistence!
There was one member here that did it by himself and didnt even have a hoist.

Would probably be easier to do it after running the car for a while too, as the heat can loosen the nuts and bolts, where as cold will make them contract.

I know you'll burn yourself, but just build a bridge and get over it! Or wear protective gloves and long sleeves....

I wouldn't really be game enough to try it .. & for the amount I was charged for fitting it much easier to get a pro to do it
