2005 isn't that long ago.. how could that not be considered current gen? If you wanted to be picky, it's probably based more on the Galants, but all Mitsubishi's "family cars" look the same anyways..

The 380 was a completely new car, new chassis, the works. Had nothing to do with a Magna what-so-ever.

i think the point mr c was trying to make was its just the same sh*t repackaged. It may have all new chassis lights etc but nothing really new exciting or benchmark setting. The 380 was suppose to be mitsi's answer to its failing sales but what i think mr c is saying is they really didnt do anything spectacular to try and compete with a commodore/falcon/camry market and that is why they are closing the factory. If the 380 was a success they were going to keep the factory opened but it FAILED.

It was a fiddled with American Galant. Not very new.

i see your point Ben, but you can't say its a completely new car .. Mitsubishi NEVER make completely new cars .. they always just re-use the same old sh*t for every car they build .. even if they do make a few minor changes ..

I don't think my comments were too far off base .. the Galant & Magna are pretty much the same car throughout their lifecycles - but the Galant has carried on development for the last 3 years after the Magna was discontinued .. as Oodles said & I should have probably made it a bit clearer initially, the 380 is just a fiddled with US Galant rebadged for the Aussie market & rest assured, if Mitsubishi wasn't trying to introduce a "new" car in Aus, to re-capture the market - the 380 (Galant) would have most likely been sold here as a Magna instead (IMO)

Umm .. besides .. why are we arguing about 380's?? Doesn't anyone even CARE about them past the issue of whether the 3.8L engine, or the gearbox will fit in an FTO??

Correct me if I'm wrong..
