I have had/have a similar problem with mine, and its a GS. To me it sounds like something to do with my suspension, it comes from under the car near the front, its kinda strange. its not that loud, only happens occasionally and doesn't seem to be a problem.
Mitsubishi have checked it out a few times and can't seem to find a problem. I think its just a nut or something that has become alittle loose. Still, it may not be the same problem. My suspension is also not original (my be original but is much stiffer to normal stock) so it might be that.

Now that's were I was heading.
An easy solution to that is to get one of those self-adhesive felt pads that you put on the bottom of chair and table legs to stop them scratching the floor. Stick it on the chassis of the car under where the hook end of the rod rests. In my car this was easy to tell, as it had scratched some of the paintwork where it had rubbed.

For what it's worth, don't dismiss the bonnet holder rod, as this is a VERY common problem with FTOs. It took me a while to isolate this issue, as I thought it was something else, such as a suspension component, but I read about this on an overseas forum, put some padding under the hook, and the noise has gone.
It used to drive me nuts as I too thought the sound was coming from the left hand side of the car.

Well that solved all my probs! Noise had been driving me crazy every time I go over a speed hump for ages and it turns out it's the bonnet rod. Thanks for all the help guys, thinks r much quieter now.Supplanter wrote:My guess is that the noise you are hearing is the sound of the rod that holds up your bonnet bouncing around![]()

I have loose bushes on the fron suspension - still havent got around to replacing them yet - they make a kinda rattly noise when going over bumps.
SIlly question but have you popped the hood and then proceeded to shake your car up and down a little?? does it make the noise then? Oviously find a nice sturdy panel to push against as you dont want to be putting a dent in your car.
