The gt-28 is the same Turbo in a S15 right?
Did you get the ball bearing one? (JDM s15)
Glad to see your committed to going turbo
If you need some parts let me know i can get some good turbo/accessories for good prices (2nd hand as well)
Will 210cc Injectors be enough :S i know s15 injectors are only 480 and they max out pretty quickly.

There are several different GT-28 turbo's...
I.e. I have a GT-2860R (Whats in the better S15s)
The only one better is the GT-2871R... can flow a little more HP up the top end... Really any of them would be fine for Simon...
And dont forget he has 6x210cc Injectors (total 1260cc of injector) I have 6x 390cc (2340cc total)... 4 bangers only have 4x injectors... (4x480 = 1920) so he's not as far behind as you'd think... and he will be wanting as much power as a stock S15 anyway... He will be fine in either case...
Standard are 166cc and they have a good 150kw in them... so 210cc should be good...
hope you get a good ECU to control them... I think Greddy need extra sh*t to do bigger injectors... or something...
The other thing i'd do before the turbo went anywhere near the engine would be decompression gasket... man trust me... do it and you'll improve the reliability of the engine 10 fold!!! only couple of hundred bucks and would make the difference between a 4 month and a 4 year engine...

Thanks guys for your support. I think sam answer all the questions, let me know if i missed something.
The ECU will be a Emanage Ulitmate piggy back unit and that sucker comes with everything i need except maybe a MAP sensor and MAP sensor harness which i can purchase later if i need it. Which hopefully i wont need. However i may need this if the MAF sensor i currenty have, sends dodgy info to the tip box via the ecu. Which is what jeff suffered from before he went manual.

Both of my engine failures had nothing to do with the MIVEC system... (actually my first one did... but it was N/a....)I8AFRE wrote:*cough* crappy MIVEC *cough cough*
The turbo MIVEC failed due to high compression slowly killing my rings and eventually punching one through to the sump... MIVEC had nothing to do with it... it was COMPRESSION!!!!! and it took my bill from $12k to $23k...
The main reason for me going to non-MIVEC is because its much easier to tune...
FKIN DECOMPRESSION IS A MUST!!!

Ok how come you are the only person that has turboed his FTO to mention decompression gaskets, both redline, mivec24, never mentioned it???? And also the RPW webite says that when replacing the head gasket it is imperative to replace the head bolts at $275 for the kit. Is this necessary???

If you want big power with forced induction, you need a decomp gasket dude. Be tight now and pay LOTS more later.
Just look at most of jap performance turbo from factory cars and pay attention to their comp ratio. It's lower than hi output n/a setups. You're gonna get some serious knocking if you run the normal comp ratio and put big boost in and we all know what knocking leads to (just look at sam's engine block pic).

Yeah i know that compression is important for turboes cars, but please remember im not going for BIG POWER, just a kick in the pants if you know what i mean.Delvance wrote:If you want big power with forced induction, you need a decomp gasket dude. Be tight now and pay LOTS more later.

Actually decompression is important for reliability... Hence if its a stronger engine, it will take more boost...
But you need this straight up... FTOs have a very high compression (around 11:1)... mine is down around 8.4:1....
I'd say knock it down to 9.5 or so... it will be worth it...
call up JnR or perhaps a performance workshop such as APC Performance Center (Mitsi speecialist) and have a chat about it first....
