once my car ran out of petrol, and then when i filled it up with petrol i couldnt turn my key or get it out..... very embarasing but basically i just needed to unlock the steering wheel and it was fine.... sounds like yours is a bit more complicated!

Yeah there's a difference between steering lock and the tiptronic/ignition key lock.

With tiptronic, you won't be able to retrieve your key as long as the shifter is in any gear other than Park.

With the steering wheel lock, you need to turn the key one click to be able to unlock it.
