Small pipe on Intake?

Post by maggsy »

i went to change over my air intake today and when i pulled off the intake pipe i noticed a small pipe just below the TB which connected the engine to the intake pipe.

what is this for and if i switch my intake pipe will i need to make new connection for it.

also when i had a look down the end of the air pipe the was a small amount of oil in there. could the small pipe be feeding oil into my air pipe? 8O

Thats thats intake manifold pressure releif. Technically it should be connected, but it you cant just wack on one of those little filters. A drop of oil in there is normal.

Breather pipe. Returns emissions to the engine to be burnt off again under combustion. You don't have to have it connected to the intake pipe, can just leave it off. Some people fit filters directly to it.

just to back up what AMACHA said, any exposed filter in your engine bay is a defect. And if you don't connect that back up it's a EPA violation and so a big fine. Does anyone bother putting a hile in the new pipe and some sort of a plug or connector to connect the breather to it?
