Had my car hoisted up the other day for a check up. Noticed a lot of rust but thats getting treated this week.
I also noticed that there was nothing covering the underside of the car. I could see the engine etc...
Is there supposed to be some plastic covering? Seems very dangerous.

lol, no there is no covering underneath the engine bay so yeah the engine/exhaust pipework is pretty much exposed underneath... in reality you got nothing to worry about, unless you've dumped the suspension to its guts or something... but with the rust treatment, yeah you'd definitely need it soon (before the rust spreads elsewhere)

Hmmmm the Lexus LS430 also got a sheet of metal covering underbody, but i wouldn't call it "high performance"

if the car already has some surface rust... do these ppl get rid of it and then treat it?ellusion wrote:I've had it done and am very happy with it.
You have to do it at a RUST specialist. Make sure they do cars and have a hoist.
I paid $395 for a FULL undercar rust treatment and proof.
This is better than replacing panels after the rust has eaten into your car.
what i mean is... do these rust treatment things:
1. stop the rust from spreading any further
OR
2. gets rid of the rust, and stops it from spreading.
ANYONE IN SYDNEY WANTING TO DO THIS, maybe we can do a group thing and get a BIG DISCOUNT! maybe this should be a diff. thread
