Ok - Saturday it is then. So whats the dealio with food?? Each bring own stuff??

Oh, will try and remember the stickers too (and must put one on the car somewhere....).

And that is Maitland NSW, not far from Newcastle. Don't be confused with the maitland here!!

And Sunset - was only joking so please come along if you can. Will be stopping for wine tasting somewhere too I would think - not that we advocate drinking and driving of course. Just all the good roads lead by winery's so it can't be a coincidence can it?? ;)

Looking forward to seeing your camera setup too.

Well, not a great turnout, but an awesome day for a drive. And the BBQ was great too.

Anywho... Ill Upload some of the video footage I got. I cant upload the whole .avi files cos they are huge, but I've edited and trimmed them a little with windows movie maker. I think it changed the format when it saved too, and the quality is a little worse, but still not too bad.

Some stretches thru the hills you can see the twigs and leaves getting thrown up from Travis' car, and can hear them hitting my car !!!!

Yes. Yes it was the forrester.

Its quite a long story, but basically I think he just didnt wash the FTO and was too embarrassed to take it out in public...

I edited the vid with some music etc, and chucked it in the general area if your interested... (but its a bit bigger obviously)

First time I watched it I thought "what the F*%& is that noise, then I looked closer and realised it was stuff being thrown up by your car. Pretty sure there wasnt anything too big on the road, so could only be leaves and small twigs. Dont think I have any new stone chips anyway, so the Camera obviously "hears" those impacts quite well lol

Yeah, the originals have a fair bit of "boring" stuff, as you could probably imagine. One file is about 450Meg, and the other is about 550Meg total. The one we shot on the way home down the freeway was ok too, and closer to around 700+ Meg I think, but not a lot of useful footage. I did manage to get the grass fire on film though :D

I was also interested to see the "interference" going thru the heysen tunnel with the lights (you can see some banding of the image, and it seemed to change according to my speed). Thought it was quite odd. I would have thought with the lights running 50Hz presumably, and the camera running 30fps, it wouldnt show up like that. Think I'll definately have to do a night run thru some well lit streets, and see if its a serious problem. Dont know how well any colour will come up at night though... only one way to find out :D

LOL!!Yeah, thanks for that Ben.

What you didn't see was just how far I could pull out as soon as the road opened up. I was amazed at how hard they were trying off the line at the lights too - I must have been about 100 metres up the road before I backed off so they could catch up.

Any time any of you want to be embarressed - in a straight line that is, rolling or standing start - you just say the word ;)

Awesome vids though - they come out really really good. Would possibly be better a bit higher just so you can see a bit more, but there is a distinct lack of spots to put it on the car!!

As for my excuse for not having the FTO - well, not being washed was sadly NOT the reason.

Combination of bad luck and stupidity
- bad luck to have 3 nails in two tyres on the passenger side of the car (albeit dormant - not going down),
- one of them being unrepairable,
- so now having so spend $230 to replace the tyre which is basically brand new
- and then cleverly losing my lock nut so I couldn't even risk the drive as I wouldn't have been able to get the wheel off if I needed!!

I have managed to get the nuts off though - destroying a small socket extension and a 16mm socket in the process, but at least they are off!!

8O

Trying off the line?
I was putting my foot down a bit, but hardly launching it.
When you hear me spooling up aginst the torque converter... That's when I'm "trying off the line" ;)

Sadly I didn't even think to give her a good launch on the vid...

Maybe next time

I woulda said it was more mid range you were caning the fto's Shaun, at least until mivec comes on to even it out more ;)

As for off the line... Be interesting to line em up properly...

Good to hear you worked out how to get around the lock nut problem, but what happens next time you need to get a wheel off?

oh, and I had my climate control A/C on all day too. Wasnt going to sacrifice driver comfort for the extra jump "off the line" LOL
