Crack Gearbox Casing

Post by lwrida »

I am the lucky receipiant of a cracked gearbox caseing.

It is the casing between the engine block and the gearbox (apparently the box is 2 parts)

You can see the crack below which is about 3 - 4cm long and is very thin.

Does anyone know where I can get just the casing or will I have to buy a whole box? Or is welding an option (not fond of this idea though)

Depends on the alloy
If it's anything like the stuff VW used in there G/boxes you have a big job. Very involved.

yea for 50bux mate its worth the shot mitsu would be charging you the price that your car is worth and it owuld take 6weeks to get here. When you get the gearbox make sure when they drop your old one you get them to inspect both and put any parts in the new gearbox you are buying that arein better condition then the old ones so you have a recod gearbox pretty much.best of luck mate i know how much of a pain it is when tehres somethign wrong with your car.
