fule prices : this mite work?
Got this email at work today, if we all do this it just might bring the prices down
See what you think and pass it on if you agree with it
We are hitting 106.9 p a litre in some areas now, soon we will be faced with paying £1.10 a ltr. Philip Hollsworth offered this good idea:
This makes MUCH MORE SENSE than the 'don't buy petrol on a certain day campaign that was going around last April or May! The oil companies just laughed at that because they knew we wouldn't continue to hurt ourselves by refusing to buy petrol. It was more of >an inconvenience to us than it was a problem for them. BUT,whoever thought of this idea, has come up with a plan that can really work.
Please read it and join in!
Now that the oil companies and the OPEC nations have conditioned us to think that the cost of a litre is CHEAP, we need to take a ggressive action to teach them that BUYERS control the market place not sellers. With the price of petrol going up more each day, we consumers need to take action. The only way we are going to see the price of petrol come down is if we hit someone in the pocket by not
purchasing their Petrol! And we can do that WITHOUT hurting ourselves. Here's the idea:
For the rest of this year DON'T purchase ANY petrol from the two biggest oil companies (which now are one), ESSO and BP.
If they are not selling any petrol, they will be inclined to reduce their prices. If they reduce their prices, the other companies will have to follow suit. But to have an impact we need to reach literally millions of Esso and BP petrol buyers. It's
really simple to do!!
Now, don't wimp out on me at this point... keep reading and I'll explain how simple it is to reach millions of people!!
I am sending this note to a lot of people. If each of you send it to at least ten more (30 x 10 = 300)... and those 300 send it to at least ten more (300 x 10 = 3,000) ... and so on, by the time the message reaches the sixth generation of people, we will have reached over THREE MILLION consumers! If those three million get excited and pass this on to ten friends each, then 30 million people will have been contacted! If it goes one level further, you guessed it... ..
THREE HUNDRED MILLION PEOPLE!!!
Again, all You have to do is send this to 10 people. That's all.(and not buy at ESSO/BP) How long would all that take? If each of us sends this email out to ten more people within one day of receipt, all 300 MILLION people could conceivably be contacted within the next 8days!!! Acting together we can make a difference If this makes sense to you, please pass this message on.
PLEASE HOLD OUT UNTIL THEY LOWER THEIR PRICES TO THE 69p a LITRE
RANGE
It's easy to make this happen. Just forward this email, and buy your petrol at Shell, Asda,Tesco, Sainsburys, Morrisons Jet etc. i.e. boycott BP and Esso
See what you think and pass it on if you agree with it

here BP has the biggest market share, because they have huge contracts with the government and businesses. and i believe shell is 2nd then followed by caltex/woolies because of their shopping docket thing.
i've been avoiding BP for years now simply because of the fact that they have the biggest market share. i use shell a fair bit because it's close and i have nothign to pick about them. avoid caltex cos their fuel is crap.
idealy i should be using mobil, but the closest one to me is a pain to get in and out.
i have been telling people to do this for years now, especially the avoid BP bit, because they are the market leaders and they do set the retail prices.
just my 2c worth, i'm still going to keep telling ppl what i've been telling them. which is quite similar to this.... hopefully by the time i'm old and grey BP will die lol

dude i couldnt agree more this plan and have discussed it with family many times. This could not only work with fuel but also anything else...... Like BEER has anyone else noticed the price of alcohol going up and up, its like the sh*t is made out of petrol or something haha......
There's only one problem with this idea, reaching as many ppl as possible, it needs to be organised, a website to communicate who will be black listed and when.
Consumers need to take back the power, but unfortunatley most will sit there and bitch about it but do nothing to fix it
WE GOTTA TAKE THE POWER BACK (rage against the machine)

When an electric car is released here that's as hot as an FTO... I'll get one of those... and give BP the finger ++.
http://www.teslamotors.com <--- I want one of those. Apart from the small problems: price and the fact you can't get one here...
Maybe not your style... but frankly just to give petty companies the bird. Totally worth it.

What is ESSO? Do we even have that here/ Or is this an American chain letter?
I wouldn't have even read this if it got sent to my email.. it'd be in my trash can the moment I saw the FWD: in the subject line..
This kind of thing just isn't going to work.. people on mass are stupid .. they're conditioned for inaction these days .. if there was a rally or even a riot against fuel prices being on the rise, I would rock up, but I don't think many other people would show.. We're too much under the thumb these days .. everyone wants the right to whinge & moan & complain, but noones willing to DO ANYTHING about it
People aren't going to boycott something just because it was sent to them in an email .. they're going to go to whichever petrol station is cheapest / most convenient .. they're going to go to the BP Servo's that have paid off the Govt to get a monopoly on the highways .. that have a servo at every majjor entry & exit to every highway in QLD & quite possibly the rest of Australia too..
& they're not going to leave their cars on an empty tank & stay home from work because the fuel costs $1.50 a litre, if they need to drive somewhere then they'll fill up..
I guestimate that I would've spent between $5000-$8000 on petrol last year .. its ridiculous! But if you have to drive, you have to pay it..
I'm not going to fall into that trap this year though, I'm going to move close to work & won't have to be driving an hour & a half in traffic each way... Going to catch public transport, or live close enough that I can ride / walk to work - It will probably cost more in rent, but its worth it for the amount I'll save in fuel costs & maintenance on my car.. not to mention the savings on the ODO..
Lately I've only been filling up $20 at a time, whereas I used to fill my whole tank no matter what.. hoping that the next time I go to fill up the prices will go back to normal.. I thought that "hey, these assholes are just putting it up to take advantage of the christmas break, but meh, I can hold out on filling up with fuel until after the new year" .. but the f**kers still haven't lowered it...
Where is the tribunal set up to investigate the petrol companies & get the price of fuel lowered again?? Nothing else has been mentioned since.. Its obvious that the petrol companies have them in their back pockets.. whether they threatened to kill them, their families / just paid them off, or both .. something is wrong..
Its not just the petrol stations that are affected by the Oil Companies long reach .. Car manufacturers have the ability to produce fuel efficient, and fuel-less cars .. however, they're restricted from releasing them.. and I can give you one guess why...
We have the technology available to eliminate fossil fuel completely .. & we have the funds to put into researching alternative sources of fuel / power, but for some reason, the govt doesn't want to explore these options .. and I can give you one guess why..
Does petrol need to reach $5 a litre for anyone to give a sh*t?
I can remember back when fuel was pretty damn cheap .. back to about 56c a litre or so .. I'm sure there has to be a few members here that can remember back a bit further than that...? Give us some idea of how much its gone up eh?
