Bugger ... I can't see pics ... My work proxy bans them ...
I will try to have a look at home, on the non-work laptop ....
Maybe you should try another mechanic ??? If you don't trust this guy that is....
There are a few around.... You will find a few names here in Syd ... I just can't remember where you lived....
Pulse @ Menai seem to know their stuff ... We were out there for a dyno day once
I use Ricol Automotive @ Peakhurst.... I know the guys well
Unique was another one ... Think they are at Castle Hill area ....
But do a search and I am sure you will find a shop close to you ....

I think its the camshaft carrier or camshaft holder what ever you want to call it, in the FTO workshop manual its call the camshaft holder, some of the older mechanics as work call it a cam box.
and if your mechanic didn't seal it up right when he refitted it could be the cause of the ticking noise, some of the liquid gasket might of gotten into the oil galleries blocking oil supply to the rockers which squirt oil onto the cam which lubricates the cams, no oil to these and can become noisy, and I think as well when you remove the cam holder you have to set your tappets again.
just keep in mind your mechanic might of called your rocker cover the cam box, post up pics.

any good mechanic can do this as long as they know the set point.TA wrote:do you know to which recommended mechanic i should go to, to get rid of the noise and how much the job would cost me?!
pulse racing have all the information on the FTOs so if you are around that area then drop in and see them.
as for price I cant recall but by saying that I can say that the prices are lower than a lot of other high proformance places around
