Time to say goodbye

Post by alku83 »

Sadly Santa was not so kind to me this year, and so for the time being I am no longer the proud owner of an FTO. It's been a while since I posted here, but I will remember all the good times I had driving my beautiful car, and wish I had taken the opportunity to go on more cruises.

Unfortunately someone ran up the back of me at fairly high speed on Christmas Eve. I got pushed into the person in front, so got hit on both ends. End result is no more car, and a few crushed presents that were sitting in the boot.

Well, anyway - the pictures say it all. Hopefully one day I will be able to rejoin the ranks of the FTO owners!

that looks really bad!

is it going to get crushed and if it is are you able to take parts off it before hand, by doing so you can at least make some money back selling all of the parts that are no longer needed.

hope everything works out ok for you GL.

That really sucks mate.

Whoever hit you must've been travelling at a fair pace to do that much damage... let me guess you were on a freeway with a speed limit of 100 / 110 and the traffic banked up to stand-still?

Is it insured / can you get a new one with the pay out?

Not good to hear ... That does look like a mess... As the others have said though ... The main thing is you are OK ... Cars can be replaced, but people can't ...

ooooo i know that stretch of road, i had m first accident 300metres up from where your cars sitting. it used to be great for speeding along until they changed it. it looks like you where heading back towards wollongong but it would be pretty hard not to see you and slow down in time.

Thanks for all the kind words. Fortunately no one got hurt, just myself and my girl had pretty sore necks for a few days afterwards. We both got checked out and everything seemed ok so I guess we got lucky there.

As for how it happened, it was indeed in a high speed zone (80 or 100 I think). For those who know it (you picked it Tapao), I was on Dunmore Straight (about 10 mins north of Kiama) going South, and I'd just come round the bend and was coming into the big long straight. Someone had decided to stop and turn right, god knows why you would turn right across double lines in a 100 zone, especially when its only single lane. Anyway, me and the person in front managed to stop in time, the guy behind me swerved onto the shoulder, and the guy behind him ran straight up the back of me...in fact, if you look at where the impact was, it looks like he actually tried to swerve into oncoming traffic, so its probly good for him that he hit me!
