New RIMS for your FTO?

OK for some time I have been trying to decide which rims to get for the black fto. I'm sick of the crap ones on it atm and want something nice for the other half to ride around in. The car is getting a good re-spray in the same balck...so now just deciding on rims.

I want to fill out the guards with the correct offset. I think around +35 would do the trick....

These are the ones I'm curretly looking at in bronze on a black car

This will give some dish which I think will look hot with the FTO shape.

17s on the car currently and the size seems fine, or should I go 18?

Suitable version would be the 17x7.5 +32 or 18x8 +35. 18x8 +35 seems to be right on from what I have read.

Who has got what offset (for those who know) and post up a pic. This would probably help a number of other offset and size questions that pop up all the time.

i.e. what width/offset combo is the best for the FTO to get some ris that fill out the guarde and empahise the FTO shape in the process?

IN the meantime I will take off my current rims and measure them up properly.

i reckon you could go up to +32 for the offset if you had skinny tyres on them, i have 235s on my +35 offset wheels and the tyres stick out about a cm past the rim. overall though theres another 2mm until they go past the guards on the back and another 5mm till they go past the guards on the front, but my front camber is -2.3 atm.

this is a car from japan with bronze 6 spoke rims that look a bit similar to the ones u want.........


if i had to choose another set of road rims for my car i'd probly go for the more pansy silver style. no body drives performance cars around where i live htough.

yeah you offsets look about right. So +35 is about on the money...if you running 235s I assume you have some 8" width?

As for that Project F car shown they are running Rays TE37s...usually forged 1 piece.

They look like 17s the TE37s come with a 17x8 +33 which by you logic looks spot on for offset on the FTO.

A good example I got from the Project F site was this yellow gullwing...see how the dish and polished lip really seems to make the back looks quite tough when low...looks hot.

yeah the wheels suit the bodykit pretty well in that photo

only thing ive found with running wheels that wide (8 inchs) is that if you put r-comp semi slicks on them they'll rub when you corner (depending on the brand) because they're a lot softer and they twist/deform a lot more when you turn etc...

Reading some more on the FTO-OC UK site and +32 to +35 would be about spot on.

New spings will go in once the wheels are on so we can get the ride hight spot on.

Checked my specs that you were after before KJ, mine are a +32 offset, 18 x 8. Just the style that gave them the dish. The 18x7's didnt have the dish, was more of a flush look.

Yeah +32 looks the goods and your right you need 8" to get the dish esp. at the back. I can also use some spacers for a few more mm if I want them out further...but +32 seems to be the go.

Sorry to drag up an old thread but I have been doing some trial fitting on my FTO. I threw the 17x9 +35 wheels off my Silvia on the back and they fit perfectly - flush with the guard. You would need to roll the lip but that's all. If I was buying rims for the car I'd go with 8 inch at the front around +32 to +35 and 9 inch rear +35. The bonus is that these sizes are generally used on S15s & R33s, so you'll find heaps of wheels second hand.

Everyone will tell you that you can't fit 9s on an FTO but they're wrong!

BTW the offset on that black one with the TE37s is shite - they could sit way further out than that.

yeah i found theres heaps more room at the back wheels for width than the front aswell..... maybe mitsu almost made it a RWD

good if you set your car up to oversteer though...just chuck some fatter rubber on the back to help it grip.
