Police hand held radar?!?!

Post by lal »

I think I may have been caught speeding last night
the cops were in a very dark corner with a handheld radar when i went past them. I saw them tooooo late and didn't have enough time to slow down... anyways, there was no "flash" when i went past them... does anyone know whether there was supposed to be a flash?? or did i manage to brake in time (and somehow made it under the limit) and that's why there was no flash??? :?

was it an unmarked police car or a highway patrol? if you were 20kph over the limit then you have a 50/50 chance that they will chase you, but since it's at night and there were no flashes then i'm assuming they were being lenient on you... (unless it was a well-lit area then yeah well you're screwed if they take down your plate no).

either way, expect the worst..!!

well... i didn't see the car.. but saw the police in uniform with the radar pointing at me from the side of the road... they were in a darh area.. but the streets were pretty lit up.. coz it was Great Western Hwy...

hopefully the cop was a FTO lover and decided to let me go... hence no flash :)
i was jsut afraid that they can take a photo without flashes :(

ps. of course we don't speed
for some reason the pedal got stuck to the metal.. and i was trying to stomp it off the place it got stuck on

I donno about cops in Sydney, but here in Canberra most cops that use radar guns (not the mobile vans, nor the laser guns), they are pretty lazy...

I've done 15k's over the speed limit, past them a couple times, and haven't been pulled over... i think they are just big game fishing... for big speeders...

How much where you speeding by? Was there a car next to you??

to confirm.. yes, it was a speed gun (radar or laser?? what's the diff?)
coz the cop was pointing it at me... so by pointing the gun at a car.. do they have a funtion that may take a photo of the car and later extract the plate number from the photo to issue the ticket?? or would they have to fine me on the spot.. by chasing the speeder.

speed camera.. is your definition of speed camera a permanent camera eg. the red light camera?

i was going about 100km on an 80km zone... no cars at all next to me... as it was late.

Jesus ruchi talk about getting your post count up! The simple answer is a cop holding a radar device or laser will pull you over (by flaging you down,or chasing you) since it was at night he wouldnt have got the rego number and certainly didnt take any pictures with a hand held device so i would say that the cop used his discression.

Wow, didn't know theres a "Post Olympic" going on here, & do u get a medal for been top 10???? Seriously who give a sh*t about how many post u make a day?? It doesn't make u more or less intelligent nor a better FTO driver/member.

ruchi u always been very helpfull to everyone, & i have to thank you for all the help u done for me, but i'm a bit disapointed knowing that one of the reason you help me or others is to get your post count in top 10 ranking. :(

i'm disappointed in you.

you neglected to mention that FIXED speed cameras (at least here in nsw) use magnetic strips and time how long it takes you to travel from the first to the last one (There are normally 5 strips you travel over in a distance of about 1metre).
