What is the most everyone has got out of one tank of fuel ?

i recently got almost 520km's (highway driving - about 300km's out of the whole 520)... pretty amazing for me since i normally get barely 300km's out of normal city driving !!! i guess there isnt much need to rev when your on a highway !!!

Heh...everyone calls me BS on this but believe what you will

On a full tank if i was really stingy i got ~750kms hehe. Mind you, this was hyper-miling style, i.e. revs not over 3.5k, light throttle, always correct gear, no rev match/heel toe, and neutral for downhills

That was a higher mix of highway than city (i live in outer syd suburbs and drive to wollongong for uni).

On a throttle heavy week, i remember i once got high 300's.

Im lucky to be getting about 300 at the moment. But im replacing my O2 sensor today so hopefully should improve

i beleive it... i think i could get close to that with only highway driving !!!

about 650+ to a tank and still had 7-8L in the tank, but a lot of night driving not a lot of stop and go S**T

as far as i can work it out, around about 10L/100km with not much highway driving, but being a granny driver. i used to put 57L of fuel in every 2 weeks and do about somewhere between 550 to 600km.

on a side note:, we have 60L tanks.... and i have the reciept to prove it (somewhere) that i put 62.5L in, and the fuel light just came on as well...

I know in my station wagon, after a really hot day in the sun once the fuel tank expanded and I can now put about 90L in it... not sure that it's safe, but good for long trips

I usually get 580 - 600kms out of a tank, but have gotten bout 650km once or twice. Works out about 8 - 9 L / 100kms.

lol... do people here actually fill up petrol by looking at the number of litres they fill ? i have always filled up by the dollar amount i want to spend !!! and another thing i dont understand is... how come ... say i fill $50 worth of fuel on one week and i get a full tank (according to the guage).... then the next week i fill up $30 and i still get the guage to get to "full".... any ideas ? it was suggested to me that my fuel gauge doesnt work... and i have also realised... that after 260 kms of driving on my last quarter of fuel... that my guage was literally sitting on "empty" but my light thats meant to turn on saying i have a few kms worth of fuel left didnt turn on !!! .... it could always be that i still had fuel left ? VERY odd while driving and being in this type of situation !!!

My needle almost touches the E when the light comes on...

All in all, after some very conservative driving over the weekend i got 312Km to a full tank... but it was basically bone dry...

Will let you know the economy after the tune on thursday

Your gauge is not stuffed there is nothing wrong with it, I fill my tank everytime and normally the guage doesn't start moving till after I've done around 150kms. It's because of the shape of the tank, if you've noticed the tank moved very quickly closer to empty I think. This would mean our tank is wider or at least has more volume at the top then bottom, the gauge just reads the level of the tank not the amount in litres or anything.

It's got a lot to do with the shape of the tank. In other cars like my laser it moves slower at full, quickly at around half and slower again at the bottom of the tank. This shows there is an hour glass shaped tank in the car. I'm not sure if the shape of FTO's tank has ever been discussed but from what I have noticed on my car I imagine it would be like a cone. ie wider at the top than the bottom.

Oh and I usually get around 350/400 a tank but use mivec way too much

But have got as much as 700 with highway only driving.

i get about 4 trips to work .. & back on a full tank of fuel ..stop & start traffic, heavy on the throttle

.. so I have to fill up every 3-4 days with about $60 or so.. I just wait til the tank is on empty & then just fill it until the tank is full ..
not sure how many k's exactly .. was between 380-450km at last count .. could go better if I drove like a granny, or did more highway cruising.. but meh ...

first of all try looking at the amount you put in and comapre.

Apart form that 650 pretty easily. Although now the car only gets driven 40km a week max so dont know anymore and dont care!

my r33 will still do 400 on 60l with a sh*t load more power and a 2.5l engine so if you getting less than thats pretty bad IMO

i usually get about 550 k's out of a full tank.

i drive 20 minutes to work every day and half of that journey is done on the highway.

sometimes i can get up to 600 k's

I get 420kms when the fuel light switches on. Can push it over 500kms easily.

I find theres no different between driving on freeway or street the milage seems the same.

Gee.. I only get low 4's to a tank ...

I do drive in a little bit of traffic in the mornings (30k commute to work - each way), but when I leave at night there is not much traffic on the road...

It will be a good test this weekend ... I am currently sitting at a little over half a tank, with 220 odd k's already done ... I travel down the South Coast to see the Project car on Saturday, then then travel up to the North Coast on Sat night for a b'day party, and then a Christening on Sunday...

So City-Sutherland-Woollongong-Sutherland-Gosford-Sutherland this weekend ... Lets see how far I can squeeze this sucker...

There is roughly 7 Litres when the light comes on and stays on.

Juts came back from a trip away.

640km
52l on re-fill at same place and filler.

therefore at that rate 740km to a tank. Not bad....
