Police Q-Car anti-hoon campaign
As of this week end Qld police will start a new campaign to catch hoons, this will be done by the new police Q-car program, a bunch of unmarked police cars like rx8 and gtr skyline to catch hoons that are on the lookout for police vechiles like the traditional commodores and falcons.
The Police Powers and Responsibilities Act 2000 creates the ability for members of the Queensland Police Service to impound vehicles involved in hooning activities when a prescribed offence is detected.
The definition of a prescribed offence in the Police Powers and Responsibilities Act 2000 means:
an offence against the Criminal Code, section 328A (Dangerous Driving) committed on a road or in a public place; or
an offence against the Road Use Management Act, section 83; or
an offence against the Road Use Management Act, section 85; (Racing or Speed Trials) or
an offence against the Road Use Management Act involving wilfully starting a vehicle, or driving a vehicle, in a way that makes unnecessary noise or smoke

I was wondering when they would start doing this... I've heard about them getting around in less conspicuous cars like lancers / ford focus etc, but RX8 & Ricelines? Sounds to me like they're just gonna be out taunting people into racing them & then taking their cars .. does anyone else realise that by having the punishment for 'hooning' as getting your car taken away they're encouraging people to run from the cops? YAY FOR HIGH SPEED PURSUITS!!
I've also heard that they're going to be adding Vans as speed camera vehicles again so that people will just mistake them for Tradey vans.. so be on the lookout - they won't all be 4WD's anymore.. now we can have more people slamming their brakes on every time they see a VAN on the side of the road... YAY FOR TRAFFIC ACCIDENTS!!

Now wouldn't this be entrapment? I'm sure with a attitude like that, they expect most "victim" wouldn't challenge them in court.Ed_EViL wrote:they're already doing this in sydney
i was at a set of lights and a supra pulled up next to me reving his engine
i looked at him thinking "what a D*Ck!!"
then i realised he was wearing a uniform

it wouldn't be entraptment, due to the fact that he wasn't trying to hide the fact that he was an officer, his behavior was only borderline antagonistic, and he was breaking any laws.FTO338 wrote:Now wouldn't this be entrapment? his aproach would have only invoked hoon like behavior to individuals that were already in a hoon type mindset

This is taken from the Evo forum....
Word of warning in the Parramatta area.
Was in a rush to work this morning speeding safely and I went past a bright orange ford FPV GT-P..had the racing stripes down the side and front mount intercooler. He caught up quickly and pulled up at a set of lights right next to me...with the driver giving it a few loud revs before the lights went green, he was obviously itching for run. The pure black tints all round, couldnt see who the driver was. Lights went green and I gave it a little so I could get in front of him to go right, he stuck to me like glue but I managed to get in front. We flew into a side street and took a couple of quick bends, looking in my rearview this thing handled like it was on rails. After a good 7 or so minutes of playing around with this ford and less than 100 metres away from work I see the blue and red flashing on his dashboard and the siren blares...sh1t!
I wont say just how fast we were going...but enough to be walking my ass to work for the next year.
The uniformed officer took my license and came back 5 mins later with a warning "slow down mate, if I gave you a ticket right now you would lose your license" and walked off back to his car.
I'll definetly be taking his advice, you never know where they'll be hiding. I feel like a fool but very lucky to be let off....geez they are getting sneaky these days with their tactics.

Yep, had a RAAF mate in a worked senator pulled up by a 'P-plater' VL turbo near Frankston, another mate from Adelaide with an old astra pulled up my a VX Berlina stocker with a Gen3 6spd, and last week another mate in a fagna of all things pulled up by an R34 in Penrith, who tried to taunt him several times, before checking over the whole car and going through his personal sh*t! I got pulled up by a brand new Holden SSX with bright purple paint last week too.AMACHA wrote:Anyone heard of anythign simmilar in victoria?im scared...

are they seriously allowed to sit next to us at the lights and rev their cars just to taunt us.
and wouldn't this be classed as making un-necessary noise?
so in other words they are making us do something that we wouldn't have done had they not been there.

It would be entrapment if you can *prove* it
Blatantly so if they're speeding up / slowing down / speeding up again next to you on the highway ... or slowing down to 40 on the highway to 'race' you..
They should have to obey all the rules we do though - pure black tinting??? WTF!? thats a defect! stupid f**kers..
Nothing illegal about getting up to your 60kph as fast as you can from the lights.. as long as you don't spin the wheels / do a burnout etc
And... if they are "racing" you from the lights, going on a high speed "race" around the backstreets etc.. then THAT is entrapment, not only that, but it is damn irresponsible & the officer surely could well have been facing disciplinary action - it could have just as easily been HIM who ran over a little kid as it could have been YOU.. it's no wonder he just let you go on your way.. 1.) He should have put his lights on as soon as he noticed you going over the speed limit 2.) He shouldn't have been 'chasing' you - you might have been freaking out that he was gonna bash you once you stopped your car - you had no way of knowing he was a cop. 3.) Could've mowed down a little kid - or caused you to have killed a kid because you were trying to get away from a violent psychopathic road rage guy 4.) He obviously didn't have a speed camera to prove your speed (not that they need it these days .. could have had a dash mounted camera, but do they only turn on with the sirens or lights?? Anyone know?)
Just gotta say if you're going to be 'racing' & going god knows how fast... & you're not going to stop no matter what anyone says.. at least do it somewhere out of the way, somewhere completely deserted where the only one you're gonna hurt if something goes wrong is yourself - like an empty industrial estate or something ..- not that i think anyone should be hurt if they do that stuff... but just so you're not gonna plow into a car full of babies or something - theres no recovering from mushing a car full of babies - think about it!
And remember kids "Every K over is a killer. (Unless you're a cop)"
