Foul Play/Lying??
Was having a look at my car at the dealer ( just there to pay off some money ) and i noticed that the stock air box had been removed and an air filter had been fitted? I also noticed that the car had had a polish? On closer inspection of the exhaust system it didn't seem stock as the piping from the cat back was all stainless? Do stock Version Rs have a stainless steel system? The muffler looked stock but the tail pipes looked bigger than what i have seen on stock GPXs. I didnt think that Version R's had a different exhaust system to the GPX. Also the tips were quite larger and were slightly offset (like the stock pipes). Could this be a mongoose or blue flame system? How possible is this if the car came from japan?
Or it just the stock system. Reason I am concerned is that the dealer said that the vehicle was completely stock.
Thanks in advance for any comments.

Yeh we can look at it like that. Although it makes you kind off wonder if the dealer isnt sure about their vehicles, what other things that are capable of lying about?
I also have a question on compliance. What happens during thsi time? Are components of the vehicle taken out.? Does the stock air box come off? I mentioned before that when i saw the car again today, the stock air box was gone. Could the dealer have pulled a blind one on me and replaced the car with another one? Everything else looked ok, down to the little scratches on the left side of the body. Can someone please help with this?

dont know what your problem is as long as the vehicle has passed compliance and ADR's. Version R's apparently had an optional ralliart exhaust upgrade but i dont know what it looks like. Pod is illegal if left uncovered, i know that first hand (cheers cronulla cock cop). Make sure the paperwork is in order if you're unsure

cars get completely changed to stock before they go through compliancing. gennerally after market mods are bolted back on after the car has been complianced and the stock parts are put on the next fto that needs to be complianced.
I'm pretty sure the car is the same one as the one you put a deposit on, it's just that the aftermarket mods have been bolted back on.
if you don't like the aftermarket mods then I'm willing to trade you for stock parts

Compliance
There are quite a few things that need to be done for compliance and they are different for pre facelift and post faclift. Some of the post facelift ones are:
- Xenons are supposed to be converted back to standard lights as the ADRs say something along the lines that they need self leveling and wipers to stay on (although this is a bit rich given this was not required under the old system or on production cars sold in Australia. Make sure you get your HID units back if your car was fitted with them.
- Strut braces will probably come off as most workshops think they are aftermarket. Make sure they go back on - some workshops wont bother putting them back
- Standard wheels for compliance. Your car should also have brand new tires (if the standard wheels stay on)
- Standard Exhaust and Intake
- Child restraints fitted - this requires the rear parcel shelf to be mangled.
- Indicators moved to where the foglights are (on the inside). This is supposedly to allow them to be seen from the correct angles. Make sure you get your fog lights back as they are super expensive to replace.
I know there are more than this but cant remember anything else

Hey all thanks for all the comments. I do still think that the car is awaiting compliance as when i asked the dealer today, they prompely replied by saying "dont know when the car can be complianced." Agreed that they know sh*t about the cars. I also asked about whether I would get all the parts takne off back, but once again I was met with an inconclusive answer. Kind of makes you wonder what dealers do, if they dont know happens during compliance of FTO's,(or any other car for that matter).
But I will follow up on this.
Contiuning on the road of bagging out dealers, they cant add stuff to a sales contract right? The reason i say this is that when I saw the dealer's copy of the sales contract I noticed that they wrote "pick up beofre Christmas." I got home and checked by carbon copy and this was nto written on it. Is that illegal on the dealer's part?
PS. I have always, and haven blatantly stated to the dealer, that pickup will occur in early Feb.

I work for a dealership, and making notes on the contract are fine...
They cannot change details (i.e. car specs, Special Conditions (tint, etc) or pricing)
But notes can be made on the contract no worries....
And is the dealer an importer?? or just a car dealership?
Ask them are you the 1st owner in Australia? (You should be if it hasnt been complianced yet)
If not then all you need is a RWC (Roadie)...

I am the first owner in AUS. FTOSAM, so I see that it is ok to write on the contract? OK then, that gives me a little bit less to worry about. The car hasnt been complianced yet. And the dealer is an importer/car dealer. Would it hurt to mention the name of the dealer? haha
Anyway i called them up after i fouind that our contracts were different, and i was speaking to the boss. His voice was really hesitant and I picked up on how he was putting/getting himself out of the problem. His justification was "just making notes on the contract." But does it matter if the notes that were being made were illegitimate?
Like i said the notes were "pick up before christmas." I never said or intended to pick up this early as I havent yet the cash to pay off the car. They clearly knew this and yet continued to make incorrect notes. In regards to cancelling the contract, it is in no way and easy task. I stand to lose my 2 grand deposit, so unless I can come up with a good enough reason, thanks i will continue with the purchase. No matter how muhc they yank me around.
Needless to say I will NOT be dealing with them again. And I recommend that noone buy a vehicle from these people.
Very poor customer service.

Basically if any details change you can get a full refund...
i.e.
If car becomes unavailable and they offer a similair car...
or if the price changes...
or if delivery time changes dramatically (more than 2 weeks)
So if those three things are the same... then you're stuck in it...
But if its the right car at the right price and they're getting it to you at the right time, whats the problem?

Good idea only problem is that if you accuse a place of poor customer service or bag them out in any way you'd better be ready to back it up. Cause if they read it then they'l be happy to see your ass in court! Even though I reckon its bulls**t cause if your a bad dealer you deserve a bad review.I8AFRE wrote:Absolutley post that sh*t.
