hey guys i graduate in about 6months and was wondering if anyone is in a position to give me work experience over the summer holidays nov - feb! ill work for free and im very pro at what i do!
You may have missed the boat cos I think they all have their intakes finalised by now, but you could try summer vacation work at any of the Big 4 firms (PWC, Deloitte, KPMG, E & Y).
You won't have a to work for free, and if you're good at what you do... or even half good... or even not much good, but they can squeeze a bit of value of out you, they'll offer you a job at the end of it.
Hmm, that's unlucky but I thought as much.
You could try on a less formal basis - give a couple of people a call from different firms - explain your position and see if they can help you at all?
G/l with it though!
My Employer has two positions goin, ones for an Accounts Payable Officer and another is an Accountant.. And if you get employed then i get $500 and then another $500 if u stay for 6months

So what do you learn when you do finance at uni?????
I am in the finanace industry, but was lucky enough to get into it without qualifications because my friends dad owns the joint.
I do accounts receivables for finanace companies such as:
RACV
Motorone
St George
Liberty Finanacial
All Surity
Ford Credit
Other goods companies as well such as BP etc etc.
I did start off doing small tasks such as calls, speaking to agents here and there, and paper work.
Now I mainly supervise accounts, speak to the grumpy people in the above companies, and do all the legal work for them!
There are heaps of bloody jobs out there you just need to know where to look. Im sure I would be able to set up a job for you easily in the above companies if you were going to stay for than 6 months. I know that Ford Credit are low on staff. Motorone/All Surity (The next big thing) have just started a base in Melb, as they are based in SA. They are very short on staff, but then again its a long term commitment.
If your willing to work for free, I prob could get you a job in a Law Firm (Curwoods) in NSW and just maybe they will sort of show you the ropes, but you'll also have to do all the sh*t work too.
