good news to me my gearbox has been brought back to life.. replaced all the bearings with stronger ones, recoated all the syncros and gears etc
parts cost me 550$ labour 277. and get waranty with it .. yay
no just need to know what kind of gearbox oil you guys recomend !
Gear Box Oil..I reckon 75W90NS is the proper REDLINE gearbox oil for our cars..
The synthetic VALVOLINE Gear Oil 75w-90 is supposed to make easier the shifting at lower temperatures. The same claim is not repeated for the semi-synthetic and mineral Valvoline gearbox oils.
This may be related partly to marketing strategies but there should be also some real effect.

Thats a pretty damn good price! Did you pull it outta the car yourself?
um nah one of my mates older brothers is a bus mechanic.. so he pulled it out for me and is putin it back in
yeah price is not bad .. they done a bit of free work for me .. top place where i took my box. they even gonna chek it in a couple of month for me make sure everything is ok .. do an gb oil change etc all i pay for is the oil.. just to make sure im happy with the box so theyr happy theres no probs
a lot of people recommend the redline oil for gearboxes. Would've got some myself but was too lazy to order or find it haha. I've got Castrol Syntrax 75-90 in mine atm, it's a full synth oil and once the oil warms up, it's a pleasure to change gears. Hard to get into gear a morning start though (where the gearbox oil has cooled down completely). Apparently it's the same with the redline stuff.
I don't know what oil was in the box before, but it was hard to get in gear (compared to the syntrax) and 1st would never go in unless the car was not moving at all. It did work well from a cold start though lol.
hi guys...is this whole conversation about gear oil for manual only....
cos i read the diy section for gear oil change.....Castrol TQ Dextron III was recommended.....and so i bought a 5L bottle for my soon to do service....
$550!!! how the hell did you get away with it that cheap. I'm in the process of getting a quote at the moment and its $1000 just for bits and labour will be at least $700. Are you in syd cause I'd really like to know where I could get the parts cheaper? (the quote was on all genuine parts)

Yeah, manual.
For a tip you want a Automatic Transimission Fluid (or ATF) like the Dextron.
