Just remember how much is your car worth is really depends on how much is your buyer willing to pay.

Those who selling their car will always think it's worth more then the asking price, and those who want to buy one, will always think the car worth way less then its asking price.

compared to what they were when some of us bought ours (a couple of years ago), that is bad.... Redbook is fucked ...

Unfortunately, this is the standard that all FTO's are valued by ... never mind that a lot of us have spent thousands of monies replacing most of the worn components & our cars run like new & should be valued higher for insurance / trade-in etc ... but meh, I guess thats life ...

They aren't as bad as Glasses Guide, which what car yards use as trade in guide line, FTO is worth less then a Hyundai Excel in it. Those who created this guide need to be shot.

What people tell you they going to offer and what actually offered is two different thing.

BTW i've seen this type of conversation before, i saw a show pony FTO from asking price of $45k down to sold price of $19k. This is around 4-5yrs ago.

urrr....i know.....stuff / money injected to my FTO (or any car) is never worth much when selling....its more like bonus / attraction. but hopefully (finger crossed) i can keep mine for long time....and if one day i could afford, my FTO will just retire and become a collection item in my (huge) garage.

i had client who wanted 6 car spaces for his house (1x 4 car garage, 1x single garage, + 1 carport), where 4 car garage is for his car collection. i like this idea

That's actually not too bad, i just sold my 2002 Mitsubishi Magna and car yards were only offering 7k for it even though it was a showcar that cost me 40k in total.

Picked up my FTO in that price range and would not look at selling it.

I have decided that in two years i'm just going to just park it in the garage and look at it every night.

Have already spent 5k since purchasing it and i wouldn't look back, such a great car.

JoeJoe is right, the only form and shape of FTO that Mitsubishi ever made was coupe.

My insurenace co dropped my coverage from $15'000 to $12'400 as their policy was do depreciate the car at that rate per year.

The only way to get the value back up was to have it revalued, they were obviously looking at redbook, and last time i checked 1998 Fto's wernt even on there. anyway had the car revalued and now they have agreed to insure for $18'000 based on the valuer saying that is what the car would be sold for from his store.

Finally thoughts from jerry: rebbook can shut the fcuk up and insurance companies follow suit

I think you've done alright for yourself to begin with getting it at 11k, there was bound to be stuff needing to be fixed up (unless the owner was desperate to sell)... if you've spent another 11k fixing stuff it must be 1 sweet car to drive...

Yeah it sucks. A year after I bought my car my insurance company revalued it to 18,000 after I bought it for 23,500. THey claimed that while my version R wasn't listed they just took the listed value and gave me another 5000. Agreed value my but

Agreed what a few others have said though, I can't see me ever selling my car.

guess what... after all that money... the only performance related mod was the apexi power intake.....

when my insurance is due for renewal, i might send the list of mods to them to increase the covered value....hopefully the premium wouldn't go up that much

I think you'll find with most insurance companies mods don't increase car value, they only increase your premium.

Same thing happen to my Merc, the value went up by 15k, i think its depends on the insurance company and the car.

And the premium only gone up by $200 per yr.

Having said that, mods don't increase the value of your car when you sell it. So might as well "Write it off"
