What next?
righto... well my engine is nearly complete..
Just wondering what i could do next??
as far as performance goes...
Im doing a little work on driveline and suspension (coilovers, LSD, uprated CVs, big brakes, etc) but im also going to be doing any more performance mods i can...
Details of the build so far are:
Engine:
2.0L Non-Mivec V6 Quad-Cam
Acid Cleaned Block and Heads
Surface grind engine blocks and cylinder heads
Bore and hone engine block
Service Cylinder heads, cut valves and seats
Perform mild port job on cylinder heads
ARP Head and Main Stud Kits
CP Forged low compression pistons 8.0 : 1
Forged Conrod Set
Replace waterpump, timing belt and hydraulic timing belt tensioner
Solid USA Rings
VRS Gasket Set
6a13tt DOHC Turbo Spec Cams
Conrod Bearing kit
Main Bearing Kit
chromoly Lightweight Flywheel
Replaced Lifters
Other Performance:
Garrett GT-28 Turbo
Turbosmart Dual Stage Boost Controller
Turbosmart BOV
Turbosmart Turbo Timer
Wastegate (not sure on size)
600x400x80 Intercooler (i think)
Microtec LT-10s ECU
390cc injectors (up from 166)
Walbro uprated Fuel pump
Exceedy Sports Organic Clutch (will get modified if it struggles with power)
3" Highflow Exhaust
So what else can be done??? Im thinking upgrding to a GT35/40 turbo or something of the likes...
Also im guessing a heavy port and polish on the heads.. etc...
if you have a suggestion, give an idea of $$ it would cost...
Thanks for any help...

Go for some safety/handling mods next. Theres no way I'd be running that much power without upgrading some of the stuff thats keeping you held to the road...
Thinking LSD, Big Brakes, Good Tyres, replace Suspension - Adjustable Coilovers (if you don't mind a harsher ride), Some poly bushes (I think OE Bushes in the front cause the poly ones are too soft apparently- talk to Fulcrum about what you should do)
Whiteline uprated sway bars, Whiteline droplinks & Strut Braces
Tougher CV's ... I dunno... maybe wait to see if your current ones stand up to the punishment ... wouldn't replace unless they're already buggered - they're pretty expensive
Then lose some weight.
Oh, also put in a rollcage & racing harnesses FFS! lol

hehe, couldn't resist

read mate...FtoSam wrote: Im doing a little work on driveline and suspension (coilovers, LSD, uprated CVs, big brakes, etc) but im also going to be doing any more performance mods i can...
And no to rollcage... rollcage = defects...
Racing harness may be an idea though... but i think that'd mean a 2 seater....
Weight loss isnt too much on my agenda... a few little bits like my CF bonnet and lightweight 18s are enough for me...
but the whole idea of this car is max power and max looks..
Hoping to be a cover car. So i dont want to strip it out... if anything i'll be adding weight... but not too much... prob 2x12 subs (light ones...) and basic system...

bloody hell, rollcage is an illegal modification!? It should be compulsory IMO (At least for performance cars ... I want one in my car)
besides, is there anything about your car that isn't defectable? lol
I want to get a racing harness as well, at least just for the drivers side...
hehe, Max Power .... "Nobody snuggles with Max Power, they strap themselves in & feel the G's"..
Just go all out, spend another 30k & do an AWD conversion

I know of a place down here, that specialises in Mitsi conversions.. They usuall do stock lancer to GSR/EVO conversions, and GSR-Actuall EVO's too.. I now get most of my spare parts off them ..
I think their latest project has been converting a Lancer (Aust Delivered) into an EVO VII ... So yeah, that is who I would probably get to do the job ..
Gearbox and all that is good, but how would you make room for the rear set up ... Dif and all that ... So if you dont have a floor to cut out and weld in, you would have to customise the actuall FTO floor ... Which would cost a hell of a lot more then finding a similar floorpan and just welding it in...
But after I finish with the evo I guess I will chase it down ...

^^ What Mr Charisma said.
You remind me of me in my youth Sam
Throwing all your dollars at horsepower.
You're gonna have 200kws...and you're running standard brakes & stock suspension (apart from lowering springs)
Its gonna be an arse to control. I'd fit a limo diff so you get some form of traction, I'd stick some whopper stoppers on the front so you can haul the c*nt up, then I'd stiffen it up. After spending 8k on the motor, surely you could part with $1200 for a set of D2's & another $1400 on the UAS big brake kit. A limo diff will also set you back around $800.
The legalities of roll cages varies from state to state, but its generally the same or there abouts. Down here a full cage is illegal, but a half cage is not - as long as it padded. Even a half cage with stiffen your chassis up.
When Im up there, go for a drive in my car, you'll want to spend money on suspension & brakes after that....

As Ben said half cages must be padded and I think even checked if not signed off on (ie. mod plated). Full cages are illegal cept in rally carsmr-charisma wrote:bloody hell, rollcage is an illegal modification!? It should be compulsory IMO (At least for performance cars ... I want one in my car)

From what people from QT have said to me it's more about what would happen to other cars, you'd be ok as long as you didn't wack your head on the cage but what about the other car. On that reasoning though I think 4 wheel drives should be band

Be careful with the harness thing as well, last time I checked for Queensland you need a mod plate if your modifying any part of the crash restraint systems (seatbelts).

no one has mentioned nitrous yet...
i was seriously considering a zex kit as it is the safest dry kit in my opinion, when you push the nos button, the fuel management unit increases fuel pressure so you dont run lean like other dry nitrous kits...
heres a reviews from people that have used the zex dry nitrous kits before

Heard of custom boot install???
But if the cops are any good they'll see the lines....
plans are to put a fake bottle at the centerpeice of the install, then have the real bottle hidden... so they can see that its disconected and hence legal....
but i wouldnt be running it round the street anyway... much... lol
