Hey fto lovers...
I'm debating whether to install an e-manage i have lying around in the car and wanted some opinions from people that have added a piggyback onto their cars. I'm guessing the gain i will approximately have will be around the 5kw atw mark factoring existing mods like intake and exhaust and a general up shift of the whole power curve.
The main issue however is: does installing an e-manage improve everyday driveability ? I.e. at small throttle openings. Obviously the piggyback adjusts the what map but what about normal a to b driving. Will it give any difference at all (i.e. does it work with the stingy arse driving map of the ecu). I'll probably only install it if it gives better driveabilty too. Sooo any experiences anyone ? Oh, does it remove jap ecu 180km/h speed limitier too ?

I have installed a emanage ultimate a couple of weeks ago, there are a few issues, the ultimate does not have the software for MIVEC 6A12 but you can get around this, in the software when you select which engine you have, go to the bottom of the list and there is universal select that, then I selected a toyota map sensor 1 in the air flow meter menu and for crank trigger I selected the mitsubishi one, if you selected 6A12 as your engine and you have a MIVEC 6A12 when you run the engine it will as if you had disconnected the MAP sensor.
Another problem is if you use the ADD/TRIM fuel feature you will need the injector adaptor, I think the one for the GTO works with the FTO, if you don't have the adapter you will set a fault code and you won't be able to rev past 6000rpm and mivec will be disabled, but if you don't want to get adapter you can set the idle over 1000rpm this will stop the code from setting and you get MIVEC and rev as high as you want or you can just use the ADD only fuel as in the original emanage.
The emanage doesn't affect the driveability unless it has been tuned wrong and you can tune them throughout the rev range at any load not just what, the ultimate does remove the speed limiter but I think the original emanage does aswell.
Your probably best with the original Emanage because you won't really get to use some of the features in the ultimate unless you have the injector adaptor.

Thanks guys. It's a go ahead then! Yep, i'll definitely be using the e-manage blue/basic unit as i already have one with the injector and ignition harness ready to go along with the software. Gotta goto ex bd4's to pick up the main harness first though. I'll update with results and impressions when it's done.
