does a rear strut brace do anything for handling , or is it pointless?

Re: rear strut brace
I have one in mine (came with it) ... With a FWD car, I don't think it needs it .. I am use to it now, but one of my mates took it for a drive and reakons it would go better without it... But yeah, just his opinion ...manofwood wrote:does a rear strut brace do anything for handling , or is it pointless?

From what I understand by stiffining up the rear suspension (ie by adding a strut brace) it reduces understeer and can increase oversteer.
Jeff had an interesting oversteering moment after fitting a rear strut brace to his car and stiffening his rear suspension.

There used to be some phtos, very close to rolling
Thankfully didn't.

Jeff had put on a thicker swaybar not a strut brace. He also tweaked the rear toe setting into the negative, which will make the ass want to slide.
The strut brace is more for chassis rigidity. They make a huge difference on the turn in & stability of the front, but the rear only makes a minor difference (well thats what I felt when I put one on.)
