Excellent Auto Sparky and Air Con Specialists

Post by kazbah »

I know we all complain about bad service and places to avoid when looking for work to be done on our cars, but I'm going to do the opposite.

If anyone is looking for an excellent auto sparky or aircon specialist, I can recomment Global Auto Electrical. They are in St Marys phone number 029623 4878. I have had a poblem with a leak in my air con and have been back to them three times. They have done everything they could to fix this leak, even working on it today (Saturday) for three hours without charging me. The guy there, Mick, did his apprenticeship on imports and is not afraid to attempt anything (he rebuilds cars for fun - presently doing up a Datsun 1600 with turbo, huge exhaust, new fuel system, etc, etc). So if anyone in Western Sydney is looking for a good auto electrician, my advice is give them a call..

Now on to my leaking problem. I have a leak in the metal join where the two hoses meet, one hose comes from the condensor and the other hose wraps around the fan. I need to get the hose that wrapps around the front of the fan and bolts underneath the car. If that fails it will mean a new condensor. Has anyone got any ideas where to source this? A photo of the hose can be found here

Make that 2 to spare!!!!

Have you tried Just Japs? I'm going to ring them Monday to see if they can help - to tell you the truth I think I'll just gum the leak with selastic before I shell out $1200 for a new condensor....

hek-71q, do you know how serious is the leak?

maybe the aircon welder can fix it.
My condenser leaked months ago.
(due to the smart ar** who drilled and rivetted the chasis number plate, to the front chasis of my babe, he doesnt know there is a condenser underneath, gave me pain in the arse).

 Check previous thread in "Parts For Sale"
I had been sending my cars to many aircon specialists. All they suggested was: "condenser leaked, can not be repaired, change new one"
Asked my dealer for it (still under warranty), but they only want to pay for second one or repair.

So, I sent it to Air Cond specialist in Moorebank, 12 Seton rd. Phone: 96008238. They welded 2 holes which are on topside of the condenser.
They do the welding themselves, not like most other aircon guys.
Oh, yeah, they also give me one year warranty for the condenser.
It cost me less than $400 for welding, new dryer, reoil the compressor, regas and engine coolant flush (coz the radiator needed to be remove to get the condenser out).

Give them a call.

Looks like the O-ring inside is not working. it is very tiny one.
But could also be the welding joint between the pipe and bracket....

Unfortunately Blaze, the auto sparky replaced the o ring twice, second time to put in a bigger one. He seems to think the join is warped for some reason and wont seal when its bolted together.

Twice?? :? At least they didn't charge u for that exercise.
Well, i think u need to custom made the joints from other mistu cars.
Cut the old one off, get a second hand one and weld it back to your pipe. I know it wont be that easy. Some mechanics prefer not to do this. It may cost lot more in labour than parts and would not 100% guarantee the result.
 Just give some opinion, in case there is no choice.

Thanks Blaze, at this point I think I'd do anything rather than replace a whole condenser for just one join problem. I dont understand why that join is there in the first place, it just connects 2 hoses together, why not have just one big hose, no joins = no leaks, duh!!!!!
