BURNING AVI TO DVD ETC

Hey guys - I know this aint a 'DVD forum' but thought a few of you might have a few ideas,

Been trying to burn AVI and MPEG files onto DVD (e.g. movies and short clips). I used AVI2DVD for all the avi files but looking for a program taht can do MPEG etc as well?

Does anyone know any freeware programs that do this or do I need to $$ for something a little better?
