Next Project. Need some pics please

Post by FtoSam »

Okay... im getting into the design phase of my next FTO project.

Its a long way off yet... Its for when i write off my fto or sell it in 5 years or more. So far looking to be about a $25-$30,000 project. But will be a world first. MUHAHahaha.

But i want to get the design done now.

Have already started getting relevant quotes.

Due to problems with current project i've decided to steer clear of turbochargers.

But i need a few things.

1) Pics of an empty FTO engine bay (i.e. no engine and crap removed)
2) Measurements of engine bay (can prob do this when i get mine back
3) Wheelbase measurements of FTO (front to rear and width)
4) Measurements of exhaust tunnel.

For now thats what i need to get started...
If anyone has these things and would like to share....

This is for another fto. when im bored of my current one..

Im expecting about 12 months + workshop time. Most of which will be major reconstruction of the chassis. (mainly floor pan and firewall)

Will be one of the biggest projects ever attempted (bigger than a 6a13tt conversion)

sorta keepin it a bit quiet incase it doesnt happen...

My halfcut was dissasembled in nsw. and parts brought up here... so never saw it..

yeah... most of these plans never end up happening... but hell.. its still gives everyone some good ideas in the meantime... and its always fun to think aout what could be done :)

I would imagine I might attempt a large scale project once the prices of FTO's drops a bit more in 5-10 years... when they're around 5k :P

for the moment i'm happy with mine.. new intake has just gone in & sounds & feels awesome to drive :)

Yeah... i see some out here for that sort of price and think about it. Just no free time at the moment.

Was a GS in not bad nick going for under 3grand the other day... I know, 1.8L, but would make a great little project with all that space under the hood!

hehe, GS engines are next to useless anyways, might as well turf it out & plop something else into the empty space :P Sounds like i need to take a trip to the NZ.....

I doubt a GTO engine would fit in...

You seen the space in their engine bays?? tighter than anything...

soo..... its not turbo ... has to be able to fit comfortably inside the engine bay... not a GTO Engine ... obviously not a 6a12, and not a 6a13tt ...

mmmm.....
