Make them pay!
Okay... Im in a rather irritable mood today...
Mainly because, On my way home from work on friday, There were some sections cut out of the road (getting pics). These were cut at VERY sharp angles. and basically, as i was watching the merging traffic i did not notice this massive cut out... hit it about 40km/h in the scooter (60kmh zone) and it blew both the tyres and some sh*t on the front brakes fell off... I am really pissed... I went back yesterday looking for any roadwork signs, and the only thing i found was one sign saying rough surface and a car parked in front of it.
What i want to know is, Can i make the council pay for my damage??
As not only is it poorly signposted but any more than 30km/h wouldve caused damage.. Cars are fine (but still a jolt)..
Am calling around for quotes this arvo.. If its anymore than $100 im going to try and get them to pay. although i'll have to pay for it upfront and try and be re-imbursed later.
Any suggestions?

well when you plan to destroy the bridge make sure i'm not driving on it....jonowong wrote:i was actually thinking about this when i was walking home one day...
i thought, if i was driving my fto on one of those little bridges, and the bridge collapsed on me and wrote off my car, would the council buy me a new fto?

JLT are insurance brokers.
That particular office are claims handlers for Brisbane City Council. They do the Public Liability claims as well as claims handlers for Brisbane Transport for the bus fleet.
I used to work there doing bus claims. I did a few PL claims in my time there.
Aileen looks like the big tall guy of Harry Potter. The one with the long black hair.
You'll have to send them a letter of demand with 2 quotes and then they'll investigate it. I must warn you that it takes some time.. I'd be looking around 3 months until you get a result.
It would pay for you to go out and take a few photo's of exactly where it happened, even if the hole is filled in.
