conversion to facelift bumper?

Post by scottlei »

Has anyone attempted this?

I would consider doing this, but not sure about finding new indicators and fog lights, hope it would be a plug change or wire change...

Can anyone give me their thoughts? Can purchase the bumper from UAS.

I'm about to do it, just waiting for my bumper to arrive, I ordered a genuine one through work, P/N MR344296.

there is a 2 month wait for it.

They have an online form you can fill out and they generally reply within a day. It's under "contact us" on their main page.

I didn't order mine through UAS, I ordered mine through work, I got the guys from spare parts to order on through Zupps, Zupps is a company where you can get spare parts through and mitsubishi use them, I work for holden and they go through Zupps as well.

I'm getting a genuine series 2 front bumper, I'm not sure if UAS is genuine, it cost me $650 for it unpainted and I didn't get any lights as I didn't have the part number and I was just gonna find something that will fit.

Zupps didn't have any in the country so I had to get one shipped over from japan thats why its taking 2 month, I ordered it in April so it should be here soon.

Hrmm, not looking for original, but UAS is around 540 something.

Lemme know how you go. I have seen clear indicators on a website before.

Just remember that the pre-facelift FTOs have the parker lights in the foglights, where as the post-facelift have them in the headlights.

So if you want to do an upgrade, you will need to consider that (either pick up some facelift headlights or put the parkers somewhere else).

Well I got those angle light from the group buy, I was gonna use them as the park light, with the indicator not sure yet, maybe just put mesh where the indicator is ment to go and have a light in the middle of the mesh.

If you're wondering how to do it, I believe there is a guys webpage in Ireland or the UK with a 'how to' step by step with what parts you need, also taking into consideration the parkers.

If your interested I'll hunt for the link, shouldn't be hard to find again.

as a matter of fact, here you go. knew it wasn't hard to refind.

i have written up a few posts on this......

I did this upgrade - bought my facelift from just jap and then had it sprayed and fitted.

Paid $160 for all 4 light installed. All four are clear (as requested) with 2 being orange globes for indicators and the other 2 as foglights.

It can be done, just need to find the right people to do it -

since mine is the facelift model I wouldn't mind replacing the orange indicator covers with clear ones.

anyone know, without replacing them with a whole setup, where to get clear covers???
TY

done the research btw, cant seem to find any that will simply fit, nothing in this forum either..., that i've noticed.

edit: sorry i dont mean the side ones near the doors, i mean the ones in the bumper.

thanks man, will look into it.

i know its been said lots that you can replace the entire assembly, but i dont see the point personally, plus there not imo worth the $$$ when all i want is to remove an orange tinge plastic.

well i guess it depends on the brand etc.... what im saying is that you can buy the lights for $40 each, and then theoreticallly just plug n play into your current setup as the wiring is already done and the brackets already fitted.
