Lucky me

Post by messy »

When walking toward my car today i had the privilege of watching someone back their towball into my front bumper..

Basically the worst part / damage looks to be indentation / cracking (not too large) near the driver side fog light (series 2 front bar FYI)

insurance has been contact etc etc and taking it in for quote on damage on friday..

wanted to know - is this type of damage repairable ??? talking about the indentation / cracking / chipping spot..

i felt like having a whinge and want some type of ease of mind if anyone can offer it.

Grrrrr at drivers who are over the age of 80.

best part to my day quoting the other driver "oh sorry i left it in reverse" followed by "oh thats ok its not too much damage"

repair costs will be somewhere in the range of $1300 - 1500, same thing happened to mine. Insist on a new bumper rather than repairing your current one, after all it wasn't a busted up repair job to being with, why should you have to put up with a dodgy repair job. If I could do it all again I'd have gotten the front bumper replaced with a custom bodykit bumper, will cost around the same price, or less.

At least you busted the guy doing it & he didn't get away :D VERY LUCKY!

*Edit* My advice to you; Don't get it fixed at 'Darwens Smash Repairers'

the accident wasn't your fault, you know the guy who did it & have his details.. you don't get charged an excess and you don't get any penalties with your rating,

You only get charged excess & have your no claim bonus bumped back if you smash into someone / cause the damage yourself or you would get an excess if someone else smashed into you & they did a runner on you.

if your insurance company is trying to get you to pay excesses or bump back your rating for this then I'd suggest changing your insurance company, who are you with?

HBF, only reasonable priced for impors.

i have to upfront my $600 excess - NCB wont be changed unless as u said they did a runner or something. but yea. im a student and ive confirmed this with my insurnace co. that i upfront the excess and will be reimbursed if the other party pays them back by making a claim thru their own insurance.

just hassles.

You shouldnt have to pay your excess if you have provided all the information of the at fault party and they have admitted liability.

Also, I wouldn't go through your insurers. If the other driver has insurance then get a really expesive quote and request to be cash settled. You will have to take your car in to get assessed or an assessor will come to you and he'll probably knock a little bit off.. But then you'll get the coin for it then go to a cheaper repairer or buy an aftermarket front bar or whatever and you'll still have change left over..

If the insurance is gonna replace the front bumper they will usually get a new genuine one, and they take about 2 months to get, I just ordered one through work, still waiting they said its gonna take 2 months.

lol at your guys.

The insurance comp doesnt do sh*t, the repairer does.

When its in the shop go to him and tell him where to get the bar or get it for him, work out a deal as it will be cheaper and you can ok it.

I'm only upgrading my series 1 bumper to a series 2, I ordered it through work Holden spare parts, I know it sounds strange Mitsubishi parts through Holden but they get there parts through Zupps, this way I don't have to pay for postage, but price for the genuine series 2 bumper is $654.
