I could simply go out and buy a mitsu plain old black blanking plate, but where is the RICE in that?? So instead I decided on the Stereo Blanking Plate, featured in FTO Shop....
and since installing it, I thought Id write a little review to any others thinking about the same thing..
First...
Build Quality...whats there to say, its a piece of metal with a logo laser cut out and some lovely glowy blue stuff behind it
Installation... now this was the bit that sh&t me no end...After several attempts to think about how it locked in, or wedged in, or rested in I gave up and thought of a different solution... On the each end of the blanking plate are 2 small legs which stick out, which i assume are there to hold it in place, but in my instance they wernt working...now funnily enough these match up with some small plastic lugs in the back of the surround, so to ensure a secure fit(dont want this thing falling backwards every gear change) I decided to use some pliers, bend these legs so they rested on the lugs and using some good old superglue attach it there for good...
end result, solid as a rock and a perfect fit
End Result

blanking plate in action
Very happy with the end result, and the colour matches my dials pretty well...
And there we have it, anyone else thinking of gettin one, as long as you dont mind using a little superglue, then its a nice piece of in-car rice
