Brake setup under 16's

Hi All,

After 60,000k's of service I have finally worn out my Greenstuffs and my EBC rotors have finally warped beyond repair. There is one long steep hill approaching Hobart from the south that I use if taking the car to work and it is not rotor friendly.

Any suggestions on a good quality replacement for front and rear brakes that might put up with a bit more than the previous setup?

At this stage I was looking at going a DBA 4000, Ferodo DS2500 combination.

Not planning on going to 17's any time soon so KAD,UAS etc etc upgrades are not viable. But if anyone knows of anything that will fit under 16's I am open to suggestions.

From all reports I've heard the 4000 series rotor are pretty hardcore. Not heard a bad word about the Ferrodo pads either... the other ones that reportedly bite well are the >RB74's< or the EBC reds.

I can vouch for the RB74s, they are effective from cold start. They're not extremely harsh on the rotors either. Ran them on vented drilled disks.

Doesn't matter what they look like as long as they work............(although I think they look super *~dreamy~*)

From the web site the size looks smaller than standard? something to do with the design?

Know of a few WRX's running RB74's which are OK on the road, but they tend to chew through them fairly quicker on the roads down here. Might be different on an FTO but I think I will give em a miss.

Anyone used any Jap brand rotors such as Endless?

Chewing through quicker vs stopping power, that's what you've gotta decide. Something must be consumed when stopping =) either the rotor or the pad (or fuel if you want to be a smartarse =P) =)

Mind you I don't know how hilly your area is =)

In my case consumption is not the problem.........the EBC setup has lasted 60,000 kays....., hardly needed the brakes when living in QLD.

Heat is the problem.......At the moment my EBC rotors need machining at every service (5,000k's)

Tarox have a 6 pot kit with 309mm rotors that will apparently fit under the standard 16's, just trying to find a local outlet and price to see if it is viable.

They also do a similar 10 pot kit but that is just overkill.
