If your on your P's you will need god as your lawyer to get you off that one... Other then that, it depends on how much you where speeding by and then you may still need a damn good one.

dont bother, magistrates will show a biased towards the police.
If you contested over a simple thing, you will never win as you would open up massive loup holes in the system.
Your looking at 200-300 bucks an hour for a lawyer or over 500 for a partner.
I know heaps of them, just pay the fine, it will save you a lot of hassle.
I know you think your right, but the legal reps for the goverment have massive pockets.

Topao mind telling us the circumstances again? I'm sure I've read it before but there's always a reason for the disqualification periods.topao wrote:Nah i work full time. Yeah but i got a 6month suspension for a 3month crime, im happy to do my 3months but i cant do another 3 especially when no1 is giving me a reason for why i got an extra 3

i think this was when he was originally suspended for 3 months and he was told by the rta its meant to be 3 months, but then he got a letter telling him it was 6 months and he went to the RTA and they said it's meant to be 3 months and they dont know why its 6, but its too late and they cant change it or sumthing like that??
I have to work - People on the dole depend on me.

What Sublime said.kid_dynamite wrote:Yeah, something like that:
- how fast were you caught doing?
- when was it (ie double demerits?)
- licence status (P1, P2, blacks?)
- previous suspensions?
- demerit points?
i was doing 130 in a 100 zone
not double demerits
license is P1
Never had a driving offence of any kind
i had all my demerit points which is think is 4
my offence is driving more then 30km/h but not more then 45km/h which is a 3month license suspension and loss of 4 demerit points

Okay, from what I've read it sounds fairly clear cut. You have a six month suspension period because:
- 3 months for exceeding speed limit by more than 30km/hr
- 3 months because you reached 4 demerits
They are served one after the other, not concurrently.
Here's the links for proof from here:

Hope this has cleared it up!

Licence holders may have their licence suspended or disqualified for the following serious speeding offences:
Driving more than 30 km/h but not more than 45 km/h above the speed limit – suspension or disqualification for three months. In addition to the suspension and disqualification periods, these offences also carry demerit points which are added to the licence holder’s record. If the licence holder reaches or exceeds their demerit points limit, these points may contribute to an additional suspension or refusal period.
Hope this has cleared it up!

Just represent your self ive been to court twice and i represented my self and the judge squashed the suspension both times and my mate got done for speeding and he got let off. If its your first offence they are normaly leainent towards you give you a slap on the wrist and send u on your way but the worst thing is that u dont get your points back so if your f**k up thats it you get anouther letter saying your license is going to be suspended trust me i know lol.
