FTO Comparison

Post by dstocks »

OK, finally got the chance to get the FTO Comparison up on the web. Did the conversion from Excel to HTML this morning.

This article details all the different relase dates for the FTO, all the different models and just about every specification or option you can think of. It has taken me a LOT of time to compile this and at the moment it is not been tidied up. I plan to set this up so that it becomes intereactive and has links to other information/images where appropriate. But for now, at least it is up there and hopefully if not of benefit then at least of fleeting interest.

Please dont be too critical of the information itself. I have derived it from a variety of places and where possible I have cross checked against multiple sources. Having said this, I cannot guarantee it is 100% correct. If you know something is wrong then please let me know and I can fix it (and im sure there are a couple of errors in there somewhere).

Other than that, enjoy!!!

Great job! Can see why that took you a while 8O

I've got an item not listed: rear windscreen aerial.

I'm only telling you this because it looks like your compulsive about having a complete list

    Otherwise, bravo...

dstocks you'll go nuts if you try and list every option for the FTO. Stupid Jap cars have about 80 options. It's exactly the same with the soapboxes. Every now and then I still manage to find options I never knew existed.

eg for the FTO I can think of:
    - different stereo packages, 3-4 different headunits to choose from
    - interior lighting (front footwells and under dash)
    - the FTO logo on the rear of the car could be just imprinted in the bar, or be filled in with a different colour, or replaced with a red panel that spanned the boot
    - Car of the year C-pillar badging on the Limited Edition

etc etc. Does my head in just thinking about it...

    @_@"

i just had a look at it, OMFG, dude you got enough info there?
    lol, great work, man.

it took me a little while to find my car, cos you have so many up there lol.

and may i sugest a bit of colour coding or use background pics in the cells? because if your car make is near the right hand side u'll keep losing your place going back and forth checking what each role is and your specs.

keep up the good work VP

yep, all coming, as I said, just did enough at the moment to get it up there. Will allso add the ability to hide columns so as to better be able compare models

Actually, have rear electric aerial listed as an option. Rear glass aerial is what you get if the original owner didnt opt for the electric option.

I know im missing some of the accessories, but it seems that these are all optional across all models, so was a bit unsure of whether to list in this block or separate. Also, havent found an english translation of the accessory catalogues yet (well at least not all of them). Problem is the catalogues are images and I cant just paste into babelfish or something similar. Maybe ill have to call on those translation services advertised on the forum a couple of days ago.....

the way I see it is they are the average specs when new. Most people here have FTO's a decade old.

A Good GR could be faster than a GPX it all depends.

How can the manual use more petrol than auto??? Thats something differnece becuase they is never the case in news cars. 12.2 L per 100kms is very high for a 2.0L 1.2 tonne car but I still agree with it.

Congrats, you get the first prize for finding errors. :D That should be 10.4km/L, not 10.4L/100km (according to the source I got it from - my mistake).

I did say these are just a guide. Probably of most use to someone that knows nothing and is looking to buy...

Because I cant help myself, im going to start a war here and say that it is unlikely (not impossible) that a standard GR would have more than a standard GPX (if in the same general overall condition) as the kW difference is between 12 and 22kW (when new). It takes quite a bit to make that kind of difference. Admittedly, these figures are an average, but they dont vary by that much do they???

NOTE: I am not saying that any GPX will beat any GR, because that is obviously not true!
