ah the joy of modifing your ride.

Ever thought that the money you spend now, are the very same money you taking away from some of the options you might want to have for your next ride?

Okay, I'm extreamely obsessed with FTOs. I cant think of another car under $100k i'd prefer. If i decided to buy an Evo IX or something i'd want to keep the FTO as well.. I dont plan on selling it anytime soon.

so, looking back could you have done it cheaper if you planned for everything? like, was everything just impulse buys and stuff? or extra costs that you didn't see coming?

i.e buying a turbo kit, then x amount of dollars for installation, x amount of dollars for tuning, x dollars for new cooling and whatever else that have just added up?

i'm going to wait until my insurance costs cool down a bit before doing anything too major to my car like turbo-age

I have a very, very short list;
Wheels & Tyres: $1500
Reconditioned Alternator: $250
New battery: $60
Touch up paint & paint for painting my Mivec cover, wiper blades, grills & plastic parts: $55
Exhaust cannon (yet to be fitted): $45
Air intake pod (yet to be fitted): $25
Strut Brace: $90
Total: $2025

my biggest cost has been insurance & servicing - whch i would have spent on whichever car I got, so I guess it doesn't really count, but totals up to about $4000-5000

The main things I've got planned to do now are:
Adjust tappets,
Have Engine checked out & fixed
Scissor doors
Exhaust

DIY's:
Air intake
ICE - Micro Computer + New sound system
Leatherette Seats
Customise Rear & front bumpers
New alarm
Fixing Electric Mirrors

not the same if u bought a ford. Insurance would be 600 bucks.

Hehe, I know what you mean... but it probably would be more if I got a Ford cause the only ford I would ever buy would be a GT40 :P Otherwise I wouldn't touch one with a 10 foot pole ;)

my insurance was $3130 for two years out of the $4000-5000..
the servicing I have done myself and only cost me the price of oil/ oil filters/fuel filters, oh and front & rear brake pads ($130) and a slab of beer ($50) for a mate who helped out with installing them. So all in all I think Ive been able to keep the cost of servicing down to a minimum so far.

just haven't had a mechanic look at the engine/electronics before cause it runs pretty well, after the last service though it was running crap, but I found the problem last night - a hose from the air intake pipe wasn't connected to the air sensors (I think) and I think that it wasn't letting enough air into the engine so it lacked power and was running very choppy. I'll be calling the mechanic & letting him know that he messed up & that if he doesn't know anything about a certain type of car, that he should just say so rather than saying that he can do it and having the attitude of "I'll have a crack at it"

At the moment my biggest concern at the moment though, is that my car doesn't hit 8000RPM and cuts out and chokes a bit at 6k revs, noone can tell me what the problem is for sure though.
