Mivec Controller ?

G'day Guy's...

Just wanted to ask if a Mivec Controller is really needed I don't really no much about it...so i'd like to find out Info from you guy's...

I want to get one and plan to get on sooner or laterr sometime....but i have been told there about $500-600 hmmm :roll: lol is it worth it ?

you don't have to pay 500-600 for an apexi or something ... there are other ones that will do the same job, just remember that you will need to get it dyno tuned once its installed as well, so the cost adds up .. check out http://www.ftowa.com/html/workshop/workshopart11.html

You may be able to find similar articles showing the difference gained from another air/fuel controller, but either way I think that it is going to show the same thing once tuned to optimal ratios..

Get one, so you can slow your car down, since thats all a mivec controller ever do to other members who got one on their stock FTO.

All the Mivec controller does is change the Mivec point. The factory did such a good job that there is basically no need to change this with general modifications.

A mivec controller would probably be beneficial only if you start playing around with cams, your compression etc.

I have a Mivec controller installed and over the years my conclusion after testing is that it does indeed slow your car down slightly IF you change it from the standard position. This is looking at doing 0-100 runs timed by a RSM, with relatively consistant launches. Ofcourse if you want to find this out for sure you can always get a number of dyno runs with diferent mivec points.

Another reason to have is to turn Mivec off completely, say if your brother or gf drives, to save petrol ofcourse :)

If you do want one you don't have to spend 500-600 bucks to get one, 2nd hand ones on ebay go for about $100, and if they have the wiring harness it really should be just a plug in job. And no you don't have to dyno tune it, as all it does like I said above is changes the mivec point.

If you want to spend money, get a Air Fuel Controller or a Rev Speed meter, as those two will provide more features.

Hrmmm maybe a quick and easy GPX to GR conversion... not sure why but hey... why not right! lol.

HELP, i've got one of these in my new FTO, but i don't know what to do with it, it just keeps beeping at me :'( how do i turn it off?????
