Glad i bought my FTO from a dealer/importer

Post by Delvance »

So i've had my FTO for about 4 months now (and absolutely in love with it) but two months ago, it started leaking engine oil. Nothing major, just a few drips over night.

Took it in today to show the place i got it from and turns out it's covered under warranty and i don't have to pay anything to get it fixed. They're even going to use genuine mitsu parts too (rocker cover gasket/seal i think). I'll just have to lose the car for half a day next week.

Super happy and a thumbs up to Version One Auto Imports and Sergey that runs the place. :D

(makes me feel glad i took out 1 year warranty on it instead of the standard 3 months!)

nice, that's one less thing to worry about :D

If you buy it from a private seller, you can get the car much cheaper in most cases, and also you can get a State roads/NRMA checkup for like $179 and they come out and do a full 2 hour inspection on your car and do a full report about which part might cause problems and the overall rating on hte car etc.

Just made this note to say there is nothing wrong with buying from a private seller as long as you know what your looking for and get a checkup done

Yeah nothing wrong from buying private of course, but i came across a deal at Version One that i couldn't resist hehe.

97 white GPX manual
Excellent condition in and out
1 yr rego and warranty
just serviced
white (one of my fav. car colours)
almost stock, only had an HKS pod filter on it
I think genuine version R spoiler (it's 3 piece)
56,000 kms
Brand new clutch
$15,400.

Laid down a deposit pretty much straight away lol

There were a few things that had to be fixed but i did most of it by myself.

I wish I didn't import mine so early, I was one of the first that imported the FTO.

94 GPX
Dead Stock
In pretty good condition only the rear bumper had cracks in the clear coat
52,000 km when I bought but now has 56,000 km
Was bought off a private owner, not an auction.
$18,400
optional 1 or 3 year(I forget which one) warranty $700 - did not get as I had no more money.

I haven't had much problem with mine, I have replaced a lifter as I found one broken when I did the tappets, O2 sensor and the rust in the roof, all I have repaired now, now Its just enjoying it and saving my money.

I sorta feel like I have been ripped off seeing other people importing FTO's cheaper and later model, but I still love my FTO and would not trade it for another, I got a special bond with it.

I sorta feel like my car has been depreciating for a long time but thats only coz its a 94 model, I've owned it for 11 months now and I think I have reversed the depreciation from since I bought it, its in better shape than when I bought it.
