Crank angle Sensor

Post by Digital_Import »

I been getting the flashing N and getting stuck in 3rd gear which i assume is a saftey precaution to prevent further damage on the gear box. To make matters worse now when im stationary and shift from N to D I get a violent shake of the car :( Anyway i checked my error code and got a 22 on the transmission side, looked it up and its a crank angle sensor problem. Does this mean the crank angle is out or is it the sensor though i very much doubt its a sensor problem cause of the violent shake. any good mechanics i can take it too that know FTO's around my area (Wollongong)?

You'd be surprised what a shot crank angle sensor will do...

Its a bit of an arse to get as too... need to pull the crank pulley off to get at it.

If the tip box is going into limp mode, you could have a sensor shot there as well. Usually input & output sensors are the ones that go. You can read the tip ECU box error codes as well.

thanks, just ordered a new crank sensor and I hope it fixes the problem. If the crank angle is out of allignment I would presume the engine wouldnt start at all?

The crank angle is just a reference to where abouts the crank is in its 360 degree rotation. It doesnt go 'out of alignment' as such. So no need to worry about costly engine overhauls or anything. It should just be the sensor.
