Post by Oliver89 »

Hey guy's...

i have noticed that My FTO when it;s Heated up and in hot wheather...Budgess and holds back when i try and Rev it say for example to 5-6-7,000rpm as soon as Mivec Kicks In It doesnt wanna go...Driving Normal is all Perfection...Turning on the car in the mronng and Reving it when driving it is Perfection...On Cold day's the cars Perfect...

But when it comes to hot days the car is fine for Half of the day Untill it starts to Budge and not wanna go when it;s Hot...I decided to turn it off for 10 mins to let it cool down and it doesnt do it anymore...

anyone know anything about this problem ?
anyone know what it is ?

use some decent oil and coolant/inhibitor. if it still does it maybe your thermo thingy is fucked

and yeah its not good for the car to thrash it when the engines cold

it should sit just under the middle right? (i.e. a)

that's the temp when the fan kicks in right?

well i had a similar problem with my magna, well not similar, the thing was overheating everytime i was driving in heavy traffic.

called nrma cos it got really badly overheated and they said its cos the fan wasnt running when it was supposed to. the reason why it wasnt getting hot when i was driving is cos the air was blowing in and cooling it, but in traffic it was just heating up without wind on it, so he just did sumthin so the fan was constantly on as a temporary fix :?

If the car is doing what I think it's doing, the car isn't overheating at all. Ii just feels like there's hardly any air or fuel going into the engine.

I was talking to some people that it's happened to before with other cars, and they believe that the engine is flooding with fuel that's why when the problem get worse as you give it more on the accelerator.

You'll notice that as soon as you take your foot off the accelerator slightly, the car will start to recover but it's a real pain coz you're probably only doing about 2000rpm max.
You never get a second chance to make a first impression.

yeah that would actually make good sense mate. japan isnt as hot and dry as australia so FTOs wouldn't be tuned for weather as bad as ours sometimes gets. guess SAFC2 is the way to go.

i was driving the other day in 37 degrees.

The car was running hotter than normal but nothing that seemed to bad...I was in traffic for quite a bit also..

Therefore I dont think its normal was was described. Something must be wrong..

I would like to know what the car temp guage is doing first...if anything at all.

I thought I might throw this in, check your air temp sensor and the wiring harness, on mine the wiring insulation on the air temp sensor started cracking away, but I didn't get any problem with my car, but I fixed it anyway.

Maybe it might be the cause of the problem.

You are 100% Correct....

The Car Runs Perfect When driving Normal...under 2-3,000rpm ...though when it;s really hot it;s a dog and it does NOT! rev any higher than 6,000rpm...

The Tempreture Gauge stays Normal In The Middle...My FAN turns on at The exact time it needs to turn on...

Hmmm What should i do...

if your temp guage is in the middle then why is the fan comming on?
It must go up to ~95 degrees to kick in...

Does it just bounce off the first rev limiter just before 6000rpm?

hmmm..well what it does is , When the Car Is Boiling Hot on a Boiling Hot Day...and say i had to Rev it From 1st Gear And i reved till 7,000rpm it will not get there..It wont let me go any higher than 6,000rpm When it;s Really Hot.

I mean Even though it's hot 40degree's doesnt mean anything...it still runs Perfect this only Ocur's after driving it for a while.

Like This is the problem...It hit's 6,000rpm and Goes back down automatically...Its like it's PINGING on 6,000rpm... Hmmm do u understand where i a coming from.

It Budges...If i left it in 1st gear and tried to Rev it to 7-8,000rpm it wont let me I'll have to change at 2-3,000rpm.

The Problem i have guy's Is Posted Correctly In The SUMMER PREPERATION TOPIC.
