Need help: problem with climate control panel

Post by MonkeyFTO »

Hello people i'm new here and i just bought a red 95' FTO. It is straight and clean but the only annoying thing i realized not long ago is that the climate control panel is not working properly! Just let me explain the situation..
1. It cannot be turned off
2. Fan power cannot be adjusted
3. Its always in 'Auto' mode (Hence it is inconsistent, the fan power turned max all in the sudden and then few minutes later becomes low again)
4. 'Ticking' sound appeared ( i suspect it comes from the fuse box) when the fan power is on max. And the power of fan seems to be affected by it too (ie. every tick results in lower fan output, and it back up max again, and so on..) btw, the ticking only appeared for a few minutes.

So far i conclude that the left hand side of the panel doesnt work AT ALL. Still a wild guess though.. It seems to be a minor problem here but it is getting annoying. Thanks guys please give me a hand! cheers..

See the big temperature nob on the right hand side of the unit? Push it in once & it will come out of auto mode & allow you to change all the settings

Push it again it will go back to auto mode.

For the ticking - once you are out of auto mode, change from recycled air to fresh or vice versa a few times with the fan on full. That ought dislodge whatever is it (usually a leaf or something.)

Actually Ben I'm going to have to disagree. I'm too lazy to go and find keys and check it out but from memory the auto button is not a toggle on and off. To take it out of auto mode all you have to do is something that overides the auto system. Change fan speed or vent position will all do it.

It sounds like a bigger problem to me. I'm sure I've read about this somewhere before. Let me see what I can dig up.

If I'm wrong I'm sorry just so comfy right now.
