Ok.. this is driving me NUTS im one of those people that just cant let it go lol.. its a brain teaser and nobody in the office can get it.

3 MEN GO INTO A HOTEL.
THE MAN BEHIND THE DESK SAID THE ROOM IS $30
SO EACH MAN PAID $10 AND WENT TO THE ROOM.

A WHILE LATER THE MAN BEHIND THE DESK REALIZED THE ROOM WAS ONLY $25
SO HE SENT THE BELLBOY TO THE 3 GUYS' ROOM WITH $5.
ON THE WAY THE BELLBOY COULDN'T FIGURE OUT HOW TO SPLIT $5 EVENLY
BETWEEN 3 MEN, SO HE GAVE EACH MAN A $1 AND KEPT THE OTHER $2 FOR
HIMSELF.

THIS MEANT THAT THE 3 MEN EACH PAID $9 FOR THE ROOM, WHICH IS A TOTAL
OF
$27

ADD THE $2 THAT THE BELLBOY KEPT = $29.
WHERE IS THE OTHER DOLLAR?

I've had so many people back with "oh the $2 divided by 3 is 0.66666667%" but thats not it. cmon someone out there has to get this!!
Its driving me nuts lol... help me figure it out

JUST REMEMBER: They paid $30. they got back $3 from the bellboy. so they paid $27.. bellboy kept $2, where the fu** is the other $1!!

the other $1 is in the $25

the reduced price of the room was $25
plus each guy was given $1 each = $28

meaning each guy paid $9.33 for the room

$9.33 x 3 = $28... plus $2 for the bell boy = $30

got anymore lame puzzles junior?

You have to take the $2 of the $27 paid to get the $25, not add the $2 on to get $29

omg this is exactly what i said to him.. cos my friend at work sent me this, i said the same thing to him and he goes
"nah its nothing like that, give me a logical explanation without any 9.33 since it says they paid $9 each, we have to stick by it"

i think i was right in the first place.. theres no other way u can have it and have it make sense..!

the way u wrote it out makes perfect sense though. i just did it in my head and didnt explain it right probably, looks better written down.

Kev - i work in the accounts department at work lol, the guy in the "phones team" called me and asked me to figure it out for him and i wrote back my response and he said nobody he asked can figure it out.. but he knew it didn't involce decimals.

and FFS i cant believe i spelt genius wrong rofl

not demoted, i done mind lol, actually its good cos then others try to spam to get the "post whore" title. and u know this is true.. so no custom titles = "nothing to work towards"

and honestly i never tried to get a "post whore" title cos there was no such thing, i was just, and still am addicted to the forum

Easiest solution, $25 for the room, the kid gave back $3 ($1 p/p) which makes $28 and the bell boy keeps the other $2 - Total of $30
