Need opinions on bodykit/paint job

Post by FtoSam »

okay, heres a foto of my car...
Image
Now i am looking at getting a new bodykit... mainly front bar (current one has seen better days)...
This is my plan:
CM4 Front Bar (dunno name... its on carmate.com.au)
vielside Side Skirts (the ones with vent lookin thing)
CF GT Wing
Dunno about rear bar yet...

Now im also planning on getting the car a respray.. Same colour but with some serious pearl/glitter through it...
The current paint goes well with my CF bonnet, my cream/blue interior and my 18's...
what do you guys think? would that front bar look good with my bonnet and colour? opinions please.. remember i cant buy a lip... my current bar is stuffed..

So you want this front bar

Image

With these side kirts (actually Topmix brand)

Image

Rear bar... I dunno the best one I've seen is the DC like Sublimes

Image

With a GT wing. I reckon it'd look hot. The only bit I'd change is the front bar. Personal opinion, but I just dont like it.

Note signature :)

That'll be roughly $650 including freight to QLD or so, on the plus side (and amazingly) it'll probably be a better fit then the carmate bar, i've heard nothing but shocking storys about their molds.

ok first off those side skirts ae veilside version 1's. Topmix are a copy cat company in hong kong that just make copies of other brands just like DMD. second i know the owner of mastertint on the gold coast aand he started doing body kits and was gettin 95% of his stuff off carmate, lets just say he no longer does bodies kits. The front bar is all right but were do your indicators and fog lights go the holes on the sides look 2 big. i think u should go this bar
Image
or this bar
Image
both look awesome and are rare.
thirdly leave the rear bar those friggen aprons look horrible.
but no matter what bar u get the respray will look awesome just do some research on the exact colour u want.

isnt the first bar for a post face lift (face lift fog lights and indicators)?

this is just IMO, but i'm not a big fan of both of them :? (and no it's not just because u suggested them lol)

i think the first one looks too over the top (with the vent thingos on the side), and the second one doesnt look over the top enough (lol, it doesnt look aggressive enough, and also the vents at the bottom just gives me the "i'm trying" impression)

...hmm... i think me and johnny walker put together we are too picky lol. (and not a single comment out of you about alcos boy! )

Big Call

Post by dstocks »

I know it could be a little risky, but I've noticed a lot of people are after the dc rear bar, and since i have one, wouldn't it be possible to get a mould of it and make copies of it from there?
as long as my bar gets fitted back on the car properly and doesn't get damaged.. i wouldn't mind doing this for all the people that want this..

Now thats a big call. You could make a few people happy with that if someone is willing to take the risk. Specially as that bar is only available by importing from overseas......

yea... I've been thinking about it.. I'm uncomfortable with it.. but it really will save a lot of people a lot of money, and besides the money factor, just the simple fact of how hard it is to get a hold of one will be gone..

so im willing to do it cos i can understand what it's like to want something and how frustrating it is not to be able to get hold of it.

so if somebody i trust wants to take up the responsibility to try have a go at this, then i don't mind if i dont see my bar getting destroyed 8)

    righto boys.... discussion finished....
anyway, thanks for the input but no thanks for causing a riot.
I8AFRE: thanks for the pics, but i agree that one looks over done and other underdone... thats why i like the one i was looking at.. its sorta between the two. And as far as indicators go i'd get a set of clear indicators off something else to put in..
There is a lot of people right now that like vielside and a lot that hate the front bars...
I like vielside very much but find it dissapointing that they are so common... thats the only reason stopping me from getting one.. they just appeal to my style.. and apparently everyone elses...
So its between vielside and the original one i suggested...
side skirts and GT Wing are definate....

Oh and another idea i had...
My respray is likely to be similair to current colour.. maybe a shade lighter... but i have a cf bonnet.. and here is where im getting ideas...
what if i get CF GT Wing and CF Boot lid... Then paint roof black.. as well as the pillars.. just an idea... but theres something about a cf boot that appeals to me..... very different... which is my ultimate goal... plus im so happy with my CF bonnet... and i dont think my rear is "different" enough... only twin exhausts back there... A CF Boot n GT Wing would make ppl behind me think... "crikey! that crazy SOB has a CF Boot!"
    opinions?
    BTW: CF Boot lid http://www.carmate.com/product_details. ... &p_id=5967
Although it looks matt black in the foto, if its anything like my bonnet should look better in person.

    180SX-style?

Samson if you're seriously considering it give "Custom Carbon" a call (07) 3865 2014. They're up north and do awesome work. One of the blokes who works there (Noy) did a CF bootlid for his GTR and it looks immaculate.

For the record, Topmix are a styling house just like Veilside and Creative. If people are calling vileslags topmix, it isn't because Topmix are copying it's because the numpty has no idea what kit he has.

This is an FTO with the Topmix kit of front splitter, skirts and rear spats.

Samson, just be careful abt the CF boot and a especially the GT wing man.. I said this somewhere on the forum before but my friend has a supra, and in 2 months someone tried to steal his GT wing 3 times.

it's cos its universal and fits on so many cars.. they tried to take it off and didnt succeed, but they did fcuk up his bootlid and also the wing itself 3 times so he jsut gave up.. also the CF boot.. careful of a red defect cos if u get a cop in a bad mood = he has a perfect reason to give u a red defect cos of so much CF.

on another note.. since u like being different, DZYRME (i think that was the license plate) the custome fto in qld thats up for sale - in the parts for sale section he's got a custom boot lid interior thingo, looks pretty nice, i would buy it if i was going all out, and price isnt too bad.. i'll try to look for a link for it later, but yea if your after something different that definately looks cool.. sorry abt the novel of a message lol
