I second that.
Cant see why there would be an issue?

Man check this out.. this is yirrong1188's car, he doesn't come on the forum no more, cos he's sold his car, but this is a perfect example of "black + white"... so simple and so stylish!!
Go for this Borep!
and he also advised me not to paint the roof on the inside as it'll look cheap.
Check out these pics of this car!

yup thats right, i'll sink it in as soon as i figure out how to lol, and i dont think it looks that bad (probably cos i spent so long donig it and i refuse to see its dodgy lol)

i'll put the car back together, and if it looks dodgy then i'll take it off and glue the curves in (everything's very dodgy right now, things are stitched and tied on right now lol). :)

Not the best pic but I'm at work:

I8AFRE wrote:that car above looks like sh*t, way to over done, the doors and seats look good but the rest lloks like a big fluffy dice thats been put together by a child no offence but F&*k me that looks aweful no wonder he/she is selling it sorry no offence each to their own i guess but dam man what were u thinkin lol
The owner was going overseas and also has a new WRX toy to rice up for when he gets back. He wasn't the guy that did it up however.

I don't like how the doors were done but you seriously have to see the sh*t in the flesh to actually get a feel for it. My camera washes out the light colour and doesn't get the blue too accurately either. :S Not to mention it will look completely different on everyones screens... the beuaty of colour and the digital revolution. Not like print media that's for sure.

Still I don't think they were the best colours to begin with... and I'd have done in a darker and different direction.

The black door handle looks shocking on the light backing imo. A big mistake.
Bennoz wrote:Have too agree... it makes me wanna be sick into my sock again. Makes baby jesus cry.
When I saw those photos on carsales I was both attracted and repulsed... from the exterior and interior respectively. Needless to say the
"problem" could be remedied with some work.

When I went to see it I was pleasantly surprised that it didn't look as bad as it does in photo's. It's not a baby blue as seen there and the white/grey looks completely different its more of a sandy colour I guess. At any rate the blue in that photo is quite a few years old... perhaps it's just faded to something I find more acceptable.

While I still don't love the colour madly... it is much nicer in the flesh these days then as it looks in that picture. I wish the wheels were as nice as they are in those shots though ;) they need some serious cleaning. :P

---

Anyway the funny points I note of my experience of buying the FTO in question.

All my mates said:
1) FTO's look like arse (aka sh*t).
2) FTO's are girls cars.

After seeing the car photos:
1) "Wow that interior sucks"
2) "Hot on the outside, what happened inside?"
3) etc etc

After seeing the car in the flesh:
1) "this isn't so bad!"
2) "niceeeeeeeee"

etc etc.

The eye is of the beholder yes, but sometimes photos don't do a car justice. What I mean to say is the photo's everyone always links to are a few years old and also in this case oversaturated with colour that simply doesn't seem to be there.

It's like my casio camera which I can wack into a "sunset mode" ... it takes awesome sunset shots. It seems to find colour in the sky that the human eye cant see and puts it onto the photo haha it's crazy cool but it's just not real :D the blue just ain't that blue... hard to show you with a photo... can only be seen in real life. The chrome sh*ts me though, no doubt about it, try driving it in the sun with no sun glasses. Ugh.

Oh and for the record I sighted a car on the Sunshine Coast with the "U Like" license plate, it's no longer an FTO... can't recall what it is now... might have been an audi or something ... my memory fails me - sorry.

---

Additionally if you wanted a closer look at the car borep (to look at how the interior looks/whatever), It's still in brisbane and we could meet up somewhere when I have some spare time. I wish you the best of luck with the interior :) Throw up some more photo's... bigger ones preferably :D

the uphostering project is on hold. until i can figure out a different culour scheme :(

i did most of the panels then tried to put the driver side door on...
cleaned the whole area before i started
made sure the tools were clean
washed my hands
and all that...

before the door panel was back on, it's already got black spots on it. it annoys the crap out of me.

so the white isnt going to work.

the original plan was to do brightish blue and white interior, and a metelic blue paint job. but the white is out, at least the white velour is out, i might try to match up some letherette or something, i'll have to look into it a bit more.

oh sublime, u know how u said the stretched on look looks home made? yeah i kinda agree with you now lol, i broke the white up with a bit of blue piping, looks better now but not as well as i hoped, so i'm going for the proper look now, and i think i figured out what i can do.

i should be able to figure out what i need and do the pessenger door by the weekend or early next week, i'll post some photos then :)

btw boarsai, i'm assuming u bought that car? congrats :)
and in the photos on ebay it looked very bright and very fur-like, but the photo u posted looks a lot better :), just come to the next cruise or event and i'll have a look then :) (thats provided that samson will eventually get off his @$$ and organise something lol)

Haha sorry if I wasn't obvious about it but yeah I bought it... I was v. concerned about the interior till I saw it... I'm still not overly excited by it but I can live with it for the time being. Too busy selling my GSXR atm and just enjoying having a car :D It's not furry and it's definitely not baby blue... thank god.

White is a nice colour but yes... on doors, it seems to be a no no with this type of car... I'm noticing I am sometimes hitting my shoes on the doors as i get in and out of the car whilst trying not to swing the doors out too far. I think I'd have kittens if my shoes got mud on them just thinking about my doors... annoyingly passengers don't have the same care factor about such things.

The doors in it are already marked and what not from previous people... so I'd be inclined to go with a dark grey or a black for the lower parts of the door... a light colour on dash would be fine.... seats... not too bad... altho white yeah... might be a bit too light a colour... tan/sandy seems not too bad... few spots on em but relatively unscathed when compared to the doors.

If you're going to do the gear stick make sure the handle isn't something light coloured also... mines blue and it has seemed to accrue a bit of dirt which reaaaally shows up in photo's. Looks worse then it is...

Make sure you have some spare cloth left over in case you need to redo any nasties ;)

re: cruise, I'm only new to the forums but I'll be sure to check back for info regarding them :)

Leatherette (spelling?) would definitely be one of the better ways to go for white imho... I do love white :D but yeah I own a white t-shirt for about 5 days and it's already got a stain from food or god knows what that refuses to come out... and hell it's easier to wash a shirt then it is the inside of your car! hehe

yeah thats why u dont wear it for 5 days straight, u wash it in between. lol
jk jk (u'll get used to my stupid jokes if u check this forum enough lol)

yeah leatherette (meh, who needs to spell lol), but the problem is leatherette is nowhere near as forgiving as velour (velour is v stretchy, and i've screwed up many a time but it just stretches over lol). with that said i'm going to try to do the uphostering a different way, so maybe it'll work, i'll figure it out soon :) either grey velour (dont know how that'll look with the blue) and blue velour, or white leatherette with blue velour

yeah check the qld section for cruises + meets, i dont think anything is being planned right now cos ppl r slack lol

lol - Just wait till I've had too much vodka...

I'd be starting to plan on redoing my interior but I'm tight on cash after just buying the car :D That and I want to do something about my suspension and maybe a couple of minor engine tweaks.
