states the following regarding campfires during fire danger season (but NOT during a 'total fire ban day')

Yes, providing;
- The fire is in a 30cm deep trench and no more than one metre square in area.
- You have a four metre cleared space around and above the fire.
- A responsible person is in attendance at all times with water or other extinguishing agent on hand

guess we just luck out on having a 'responsible person' being in attendance

Hmmm, bummer. Just went thru my contact list on my phone, and I couldnt find one single responsible person to invite... Oh well. We'll just blame the Coordinator...

And specifically

All Reserves: All wood fires or solid fuel fires are prohibited throughout the year, other than as
follows. Wood or solid fuel fires are allowed in designated fireplaces only from 1 May to 14 October
within Mambray Creek Campground and Alligator Lodge in Mount Remarkable National Park and
Dutchmans Homestead in The Dutchmans Stern Conservation Park. Gas fires are permitted other than
on days of total fire ban.

So we cant have campfires anymore this year...

Ah well. We can make do without a fire. Either that or we bring one of those outdoor gas heater things with us

Hey - gas fires are allowed! Not quite the same though, I will admit. But not something to mess with either!

OMG.

Well, Im still keen to go even without a campfire, but now were fast approaching the time of year that gets real busy with functions and parties etc etc. We need a cruise soon Shaun so we can organise something. I dont mind doing the footwork for a night in Mambray Ck, but the main issue is a date where there will be more than just 2 or 3 ppl there.

i say that if we are going camping without a fire then it should be planned for the hotest part of the year say mid jan when it doesnt get dark till 9 and it can be 20+ overnight. that would compensate for the lack of warmth.

yep - that sounds about right! But the fresh air means you don't get hang-overs, at least that is a theory I work on.
