Production Figures

I thought it was time to drag this information out again. Below are the production figures for the FTO according the CAPS (Mitsubishis Parts database). CAPS has every chassis number for every FTO made and for each it specifies information such as model, colour etc. A few years ago, I reverse engineered the CAPS database to get at the data and below are some of the results:
Model Numbers Produced Each Year
So, lets look at this. If we take my 99 Aero as an example, yes its a limited edition Version R, but it is actually less rare in 99 than the standard version R with 99 made vs 65 standard models made. There are other interesting figures in here as well. So, in short, before saying you have something very rare, do your homework, because it may not be as rare as you think.
Here is the same thing with colours:
Model Numbers for each Paint Colour
I have done some preliminary cross checking against VIN numbers in CAPS and all figures seem to match up which means that there is a reasonable chance that these figures are correct. I dont know where the production figures on some of the websites out there come from, but without a reliable source id have to say that it is most likely that they are flawed.
Not exactly what I would have expected, but there you go. Wouldnt mind a Kielder Green or Timber Green one. Have seen a picture, but with only 14 ever made, would be extremely unlikely to pick one up.
Maybe I should also do one based on transmission. You quite often see people advertising their manual as a 'rare' entity as well.
