BJ always running genuine wheels 👌

What size tyre are you going to run?
Do you think you could fit a 235/45/18 or gonna squeeze something a biller smaller?

You’ll have to go 225/40

235/40 for the moment. Won't be particularly low so shouldn't be much issue there.

Cheers man.

Even after an overly lengthy burp and new rad cap, I still seem to be losing coolant over successive drives. Doesn't appear to drastically change at what temperature the engine actually runs (asides from maybe raising its cruising temp slightly), which is good, I guess, but also puzzling. I can just keep topping it up, but I think I'll book it in for a pressure test to rule that out, as it doesn't seem to leak at all when idling.

C'est la vie with project cars. Inb4 hEaDGaSkeT.

The Enkei's are looking good 👌👌

That really strange, hopefully its just something simple.
What is the colour of the oil like?

:( GL, man. Sucks having to troubleshoot when you don't even see a puddle.

Been doing a bunch of little things to test the roadworthiness of this shitheap before bonfire this year

Ticked off the pressure test, no external leaks. Ticked off the headgasket-y "TK" (?) test thing, which came back negative for gasses in the coolant. Chucked on a 1.3bar radiator cap to see if it would make any difference to how much the overflow reservoir was filling up; difference probably not quite quantifiable, would still get pretty full after hard driving, although maybe a byproduct of it being too full to begin with, or too small compared to the Galant one (going to try and squeeze one in by redoing the intake, RIP "The Shoe", although I might still not have room lol).

Additionally got something I've been yammering about for ages, which was some ducting/diversion plates and an undertray.

Results: somewhat noticeable, but also yes but no. Been testing by going up and down our Southern Expressway. Last time I went without the ducting, on the way up it climbed to about 95c and stayed stable. Stopped at the end for a bit, drove back, and gradually by the end it was around 100c. Then it drops to 90 or below rolling down the hill.

With the ducting, cruised at 90c all the way up, even with giving it some boost a few times. But mostly the same story as before on the way back, maybe a few degrees lower, which could maybe even just be ambient temp. Will have to see if it makes any difference in the hills.

Further results: still hot. Stock temp gauge didn't start moving again, but it almost clipped 110c on the way back up one of the hills to home, after a back and forth on the freeway, and took longer to cool.

Love this car, but man it does my f**king head in  Running out of easy options. Hoping it isn't something like other Shaneo had, with disintegrated rubber in the water jackets, but I didn't spot any when I bled it last. Might just keep driving it around and if it pops it pops. Wondering if it was always this temperamental when it was in the white car, and I just didn't notice when I didn't have a read on the coolant temp, or there's something else funky going on.

May be time to have a crack at some bonnet ventilation. Grab an old bonnet and hack it up. Had a play with an old bonnet and cut through the very rear reinforcement channel so it had a clear path to the vent under the windscreen. Don't call it quits yet mate.

Wouldn't be so bad if I didn't feel like I was throwing good money away for limited results, but such is.

I've had a few chats with Willingsworth from the Fb group about grabbing that vented fibreglass one actually, but the logistics hadn't worked out yet. If someone in NSW is able to pick it up I'd be happy to cover costs for the hassle. Can probably use the same mob I did to get the front bumper transported down here.

I never had overheating issues on the road, only when pushed on the track. I cbf'd going back 600 pages, did you end up putting a decent radiator & thermos in it?

Whereabouts in NSW is the bonnet?

Nah it's still got the same Fenix and Mishimotos in it from before. Gave up on the china rad which was way too thick. Thinking I may just stump up for a PWR, don't really fancy trying my luck with another Worley. Ironically, they're on an ebay special through Sparesbox for about what you could get them for 6 years ago when you almost bought one  I think I'll just slap it in, and then see what fans I can actually fit. Was talking to Paulie with the 6G Lancer, reckons even a short shroud and one fan keeps that cool enough. If I get a slim 11" Spal, I might be able to fit a shroud on the passenger side which should reportedly make it much more effective.

Well the bonnet is now on the central coast, but in the hands of the guy who bought his car as he needed to get rid of it :( I messaged the dude on facebook, hoping I can convince him to let it go.

Put 2 x 12s on it. Don't f**k around. Probably find the PWR one has the mounting points on it already, so you don't have to go punching things through the core.
