Rear Bar Group Buy
Well,
Went to visit the fibreglassers today. Group buy is now offically on the cards. Firstly, here are some pictures of the bar. Ive still got a bit of cleaning up to do on it, but you should get the idea.
Side view:
Rear views:
The left hand side will be filled for those of you that dont have twin exhausts. The mould will be made while fitted to the back of an FTO (to ensure a good fit) and im told all Rheo will be able to be attached to the copies just like a stock bar.
OK, now the deal. I need 10 people to move ahead (this will pay for the mould). I am one of the 10, so this means 9 others. The bars will be $500 each (freight will be extra). At this point, I need names. In about a month (when the fibreglasser gets back from hollidays), I will need to commit to the 10 bars being made. I will need a deposit before I make that committment (say $100). Once we commit, there is no going back, so the deposit is refundable up to that point (Ill let you all know when that is in advance).
On another note, I guess I need to give the bar a name as it is currently one of a kind, so ive decided on 'Vortex'.
OK, now names

Re: Rear Bar Group Buy
a bit off topic but just a curious question about all your bodykit parts.
since your keeping the mould of them, would people be able to buy them in the future, say 2 or so years time?

Re: Rear Bar Group Buy
Ahhh,
Doesnt quite work like that im afraid. Im not getting the mould myself, im just getting enough stuff made so that the mould is free. It is still retained/owned by the fibreglasser. I get a special deal on price as im bringing him work. Having said that, I will be able to get copies of any of the body kit parts for the forseeable future. But, I need the numbers for this one to go ahead. Im optimistic, but need the numbers on paper.......

Re: Rear Bar Group Buy
omg I hate you all! lol.
I've just purchased my extractors (which I recieved today) and I'm planning on taking the car to my local exhaust shop tomorrow to get the full exhaust done.
Now seeing this bar (and I have been following since the thread you made where you were tossing up designs), it just looks so goddamn good! I like the twin exhaust idea sooooo soooo much! I think by patching up one side it just kills the whole design!
Now I want this bar and I want a twin exhaust :'(
But I can't have a twin exhaust cause of my current bar.
And I can't wait to get my exhaust done after i get this bar because I'm impatient .
Is there any way I can get a twin exhaust made up but like ummm, take half one side off for now and reinstall later? lmao
I want this bar! :'(

Re: Rear Bar Group Buy
Cut a section out of your current bar, then do your dual tip exhaust. Be a while before these are done.

Re: Rear Bar Group Buy
This ^^
The exhaust shop will do a cutout on you existing bar and will probably not even charge you for it. Just make sure that the cutout is exactly the same distance from the middle of the bar as the existing cutout and itll fit in the hole for the new bar (mine is 2cm out, so im going to have to get some adjustments done.
Here is another idea, but why dont you get the twins put on but get the passengers side tips left off for now. That way the passengers side will be hidden behind your current bar (as it does not have a cutout). When you get this bar, just have the passengers tips attached. You could probably even get the fork put in now as long as it is blanked off and attach the 2nd muffler and tips later.
As long as there is a reasonable gap between the back of the exhaust and the back of the bar it wont melt.........

Re: Rear Bar Group Buy
If the FTO was mine, I'd so buy that bar, sadly the wife doesn't like it.
oh well.
Can't wait to see these in the flesh, installed.
And yeah, I reckon you should get a sticker or something made up for with VORTEX on it.
put it at the bottom of the lip or something. would be good.
