Last 2 days when I drive around with my car, I start feeling hard to push into gear (Sometimes OK, but sometimes not).

Yesterday, it getting bad as when stopped and want to put it into 1st gear and ready for go, it just don't let me go in gear, so I have to release the clutch and try again, luckly it goes in.

Another problem comes as well, when I perpare to stop for traffic, I press on the clutch and the car seem I still on gear and the engine start shake and die !!

What is this problem? is it the clutch plates is gone? other clutch cyclinder? or other problem with the clutch.

Please help as I need the car to drive day to day for work and I can't drive it for now !!

- If I really need a new clutch, what clutch should I getting? I'm not taking my car for race, so normal is OK for me.
- Are they using the same clutch as GPX or different?
- If possible, please supply me the brand and parts number so I can get it fix asap.

Thanks very much all of you !!

I dont reckon it would be your clutch plate. Sounds like one of hydraulic cylinders is on the way out. More than likely the slave cylinder. Have you checked the fluid level in the master cylinder as well?

agree with bennoz.

Check fluid levels and check slave cylinder for leaks.

Is the clutch softer than usual?

If the fluid level in the clutch master cyl is ok the problem is in the master cyl ( Primary cup) :)

I haven't got a chance to look at the fluid level, but I have been spoken to my service people, they too me may be something like the spring inside the clutch is damage or gone, is that possible? Coz they suggest me to have a clutch replacement ( I have been there service for long time, so the do look after me but not just over charge me)

What do you guy thinks?

I did checked my fluid level, it is normal !!

So I make a decision to have a clutch change......... !!

After 2 days changed, it's no problem to me right now !!! (of course I don't want anything happen later)

And they charge me a very good price (what I think) with new clutch + Pink Slip for $480 (clutch brand something like Dankin) with a good clutch brand.

You are not going to fix the problem replacing the clutch....

Is this common problem with the cylinder in FTOs?

If I'm fine to drive now... how can I check the problem?

Yep, the slave cylinder seals go & the fluid bypasses the unit when you put your foot on the clutch & the fluid goes back up in the resevoir. That way, you see no leaks & no fluid level change & you get no clutch.

Having it in gear at the lights, with a foot on the brake, then the car stalls is textbook example of shot hydraulics. With your foot on the clutch, the fluid pressure is built up behind the slave cylinder piston (which pushes the arm out that actuates the clutch) then the fluid leaks past the seal of that piston, the piston slides back, the clutch is released, you stall. If you didnt have your foot on the brake when this happens, you'd take off down the road.

If you pull it off, you can disassemble the unit & check the bore & seal. Its an easy part to get to, right on the front of the gearbox, 1 x 10mm brake line & 2 x 14mm bolts.

I blew one about 3 or 4 months back. If I had the time to source it from NZ (Kempys) it was $110 delivered to my door. Alas I couldnt wait 4 days, so I bit the bullet & paid $186 (and thats TRADE price) from Mitsubishi. Job was done in 20 mins.

i think it was the master cylinder or 1 of the springs in the clutch had gone. if it has i have a clutch plate(GPX) sitting at home if anyone else has a problem.
